I never understood why would you sign up for a test which you already passed?

Future Shakebox SGT....You passed that's it. Even if you did pay stay home and relax. This list is short and you'll get promoted. Taking it again is moronic!

Actually, in my opinion its not moronic to take the test again. Its good practice getting used to the wording used in the questions. Part of the trouble with the test is that the first time you see it, it usually doesnt make much sense plus you're pretty anxious... So if he/she plans to take the Lt test the more times you see how DCAS words the question, the greater advantage you have. Besides you dont pass the Sgts test, you have to beat the Sgts test..

there is nothing wrong with taking the test again even if you are the list.

It is better to be on two lists, in case they get rid of the first list (lawsuit, or some other nonsense, it has happened in the past) or if you get jammed up and dont get promoted of the first list.

Dont fret, I also signed up to take this test knowing full well that i passed the 2007 exam. I agree with samiam32, it is good practice at the very least and that is the very reason why i will sit and take this exam, even though I am not studying as hard as i would have considering i have every expectation of being promoted off of this current 2007 list. If anonymous wanted his postings to be taken seriously he would have joined the site instead of remaining anonymous. I could understand the notion of remaining anonymous if you didn't frequent the site or its content, but i will never get the postings of those who frequent the site without registering for it. If you plan on being a regular on this site because you are on a promotional list or not please register so that this site can remain an successful alternative to examx.

Ahh now I'm registered and can be taken seriously by leatherneck. As if by registering makes my posting legit. The anonymous option was quick and an easy way of replying.

As far as taking the exam again after you're already on the list... MORONIC..

Why should anyone worry about being passed over unless you have a tendency of always screwing up(hairbag) then I would agree. But come on!

Take exam for practice? Get the 100 academy test questions published every so often if you so desperately need the practice. But wasting $60 bucks for a test you already past then wasting you're time on the exam. I have better things to do with my time than waste 4-6 hours on a exam.

Lt's exam vs Sgt Exam ....Apples and Oranges...Lt's exam you must know their role in everything including everything on the Admin Guide.

So please relax and enjoy your time as a cop like I am...You'll get promoted soon enough..

Relax NYPD 74, it wasn't a personal attack only a criticism for all who will exercise the anonymous option while regularly participating in the discussion. I still believe that the practice exams do not accurately replicate the real exam with real "BS" dcas proctors and time limit. the pressure felt on test day can not be duplicated no matter how u slice it. The more real life practice one gets is invaluable. I rather sit and fail a test that does not matter, in order to pass the one that does count.
the LT exam is completely different and i understand that but real test experience will come in handy. I could absolutely find something better to do on my RDO on test day than sit and take a test that doesn't count but since i already paid for the exam before the list was established I am not in the habit of pissing money away considering our LOW LOW PAY.
I am enjoying the time i have left as a cop and am in no hurry to be promoted considering i will be one of the "5 year wonder SGTs". and am still not eligible.
Good Luck to all those test takers on Jan 26.

People are in the habit of pissing away a ton of money every week in bars.

$60 bucks... from the time of registration till exam time = pennies a day.

The official answer key came out on Feb w/o throw outs. Either you passed or failed. The list only helped everyone who passed by knowing if you got any throw-outs and give you a list #.

Now if you had failed and needed a few extra points then I would have signed up.

I'm sorry if I offended anyone;however, by signing up for a test you already passed, in my opinion shows a character flaw. Sure there stories of people getting jammed up, but if you look into it further, you'll say "Well that was a moronic thing to do in the first place."

Be confident and strive ahead. And remember money is time, time is money. I rather relax and enjoy my 3-day swing then waste waking up early, sit in an uncomfortable chair for 4-6 hours then afterwards talk about the test for the next 3 weeks.

The only thing I hope is that my Bmoc class doesn't have a ton of house mouses/conditions/traffic summons whores.

Well one thing I know for sure.  Blondie is probably one of those people that signed up.  She failed this exam and the past 4 that she took.  This is why you haven't heard from her.
