For yall who did well on this Lt test, 80+, howd you do on your sgt exam ? I know there are different factors between tests but in general, if you did well on your sgt exam will you do well on the Lt exam if you maintain the same study habits ?

Got in the upper 80s on the LT test and got in the high 90s on the sgt test. The best advice i ever got was twofold 1) gotta read the whole patrol guide no cliff notes version cover to cover 2 ) questions every single day. I did Elite as my main class and used the key for their crams to give me more perspective on material that i was missing out on. Also invest in a good set of index cards break it down into 3 sections - definitions, paperwork and actors guarantee youll be on top of whatever test you take

Sure if you're a house mouse with no family you can find the time to do all that.
For everyone else who just wants to pass, with hopefully a decent score. Read as much as possible and do as much questions as possible.
No index cards for me. While I'm sure helpful, they are just too time consuming and they are a lot of work.
Maybe 4-8 hours a day between home and what I could do at work.
Passed both with a decent score.

You could absolutely do it while on patrol. All Ive ever done is patrol for both exams and passed. Never opened the patrol guide once. Just study the packets and you should be completely fine. With a family is tougher but definitely obtainable. Just takes sacrifice and consistency. For my Sgts I scored in the high 70s and for the LTs in the high 80s. I definitely went much harder on this one. 2-3 hours a day consistently everyday and towards the end 6-8 hours a day. Reading, index cards, questions, ILMs and core videos. Reading the patrol guide doesnt hurt, but for the 2-3 points imo isnt worth the time consumption of reading the patrol guide. Its just too much and most people who read it, only read it once and tend to not retain that info.

2013 Sgts Test- 87
2017 LTs Test- 92
2022 Capts Test- 79
My study habits remained the same for all exams. My Sergeants test was a debacle, and so was the recent Captains exam. If you did well on this recent Sergeants exam, keep those study habits for the next promotional exam and you'll be fine.

78 Sgt, 90 Lt, 85 Capt. I studied hardest and most consistently for Lt. The other 2, I crammed like crazy for the last month. However you study, dont just memorize the guide word for word. You need to actually understand what it means. The test writers arent necessarily going to give you a correct answer that is word for word out of the patrol guide.

Raw scores
87-17sgt exam
75 -23-lt exam
Studied equally as hard .. prob overdid it a bit for Lieut and got in my own head a little trying to keep up with other people doing 8-11 hour days imo didnt help. For Lieut I did note cards which I felt helped with the rarely tested stuff a little morewell see how it goes for captain
