It seems like new sergeants are still making less. Are new sergeants still going to start with step 5 after the contract is settled? When we calculate the pay difference, are we adding neighborhood differential? Anyone.

****BREAKING NEWS****
SBA
The monetary raises to adjust Sgt salary in order to better reflect the PBA contract is as follows. The SBA will follow the 12 and 10 hour charts similar to the PBA. Sgt chart time will slightly change and be adjusted to reflect the chart they are working, either the 10 or 12 hour tour. As part of the agreement with the city, base salary for starting pay will be adjusted to $106,274 with raises over the next three years. 3.5%, 3.75%, and 4.25% which will carry us until 2026. At top pay, the total compensation will be approximately $158,825 which includes holiday and average night diff pay. Night over time rate will be approximately $115. Sgts who were promoted before 1/30/22 and not at top pay will be adjusted to what would be the new top pay. This means any Sgt promoted before that date will be receiving a retro check which would effectively bump their pay from 96 to 118 for those years worked. Sgts promoted after 1/30/22 will be bumped up to the current step 5 of $105,606. These numbers reflect the contract the PBA settled in order to compensate our members salary to ensure they are making more than the people they supervise. Exact numbers and steps will be sent out soon. There are no givebacks from the last contract. The SBA is also working with the PBA and LBA to change the prescription eyeglass plan. All three unions are looking to fall under one universal plan which will give our members a larger network to choose from and more options for them and their families.

Anyone know if a top pay detective with 5+ years in rank still goes to top pay Sgt? List number is low 1700s so I dont expect to get promoted before 2026.

all depends on the new DET contract... might be a jump to step 5 out of 6.
The days of straight to top pay sgt will soon be a thing of lore.

5 plus yrs in rank YES. Even with the new contracts your pay will b slightly more than Sgt 5th step so because you cant go down in pay, you go to top pay. Confirmed by labor relations .

remember as of now without the contracts you get more than 5th step sgt because you have 5 plus yrs in rank. With the new contract Dea and sba salaries go up by an identical percentage therefore nothing changes, you still get slightly more than a 5th step sgt because of your current time in rank as a Detective. so yes top pay u go. You can always visit or call labor relations like I did if you need to confirm this.
