Does anyone know why the list doubled for the 2017 sgts exam ? Was it from thrown out questions or was it for a curve

There was 5 throwout/double answers, the list was originally 1200ish, they applied a curve and the list jumped to 2700+

Thats what Im thinking, there will definitely be a lot of throw outs on this one. But you also have to keep in mind, do they need sgts ? Cops are leaving in droves, so do they really need a lot of supervisors?

There in need at every rank, but probably more so with cops. Once the contract is settled even more are going to leave. Its too early to tell what they do with this list. We still have yet to receive our scores or attend a protest and im sure they are going to be comparing the Day 1 vs Day 2 pass rate. It might be a bit of a wait and something tells me the job isnt in a rush to promote off this list anyway.

4300 Sgts
28000 cops/Detective
= Youre not getting promoted if you above 1500 if that

The entire list is getting made bc of covid extension if you really think this entire list was getting made you are retarded

Historically the job has promoted 400-450 ppl a year, that means this list should've never made it past 1800ish max. So how does a one year extension, and a slowdown of classes during covid equate to another 900+ ppl getting promoted...simple math, but I guess it's simpler to talk stupid.

The last list was massive because the job wanted a massive list. 1100-1200 passed on test day last exam and job wanted a list of over 2,000 people. They can manipulate a list based on needs of department hence thow-outs and a curve. Its yet to be seen what they will do with this list. If 3,500 passed on test day then no probably not everyone is getting made. if its 1500 the job may choose to expand on that or keep it at that. My old partner got 67 on test day and between throw outs/jst/run/seniority he recently got made. Too much unknown and too far above our pay grade to worry about right now. Lets just hope we get a contract soon.

Even if the list is curved, it has nothing to do with how many will actually get promoted. The list can be 5,000 names long but if the job promotes as they did historically, 400-450 will get promoted and people will die on the list. Better to have an excess than not enough.

Yes, about 450 sgt promotions a year historically. If it wasnt for the mass exodus after the 2020 protests and covid and the extension of the list, many would have died on the current list. Going forward, i do think more and more people will retire at 20, if they have their finances in order . I think 500-550 sgt promotions a year will be the new norm.

Okay listen....I know this sounds weird but I need your help Daniel. I have 14 tubes of tooth paste that I've "used" this year and I need someone who's adept with scissors to cut of the back ends for reasons only known to me.
