Just heard from a captain that the Captain Endowment Association has sued and won a lawsuit against the city for keeping captains in one step for 3 years. Those captains who fell under this category will get back retro pay for 3 years as they should have been on top pay. Some of the sergeants who got promoted in or around May 2017 went straight to 4th step, but kept there for 4 years. The SBA had promised those sergeants that they would only need one year to go to top pay. Whoever was in this predicament, should call the SBA and complain. If they paid the captains, they should pay sergeants as well.

They failed by not communicating the game plan.
i supposed making everyone wait 4 years will appease the crybabies and then give retro by doing whats legally right.
i texted a SBA dude from the office (not a pct delegate) and waiting for his reply.
Ill give you an update when i know more. But if the captains got it, theres no reason why that shouldnt apply to SBA as well.

Any truth to this? Being passed around today...
From the SBA...
Good news for some of you. There were 343 sgts who were promoted from 4/2017 to early 2018 who were stuck at step 4 pay. The SBA filed a grievance and WON. This effects 343 sgts. So, 100 of them will be getting backpay this paycheck at around $40,000. The other 243 will be getting it next check.

so the retro would be from when we hit 1 year in rank until now? Im honestly shocked to hear this...if true, watch how quickly the city settles contracts from this point out, this costs the city quite a bit.

Call the SBA office...its 100% legit. They just don't have the exact wording yet from labor relations. I was told they will send something out to us fairly soon explaining it. The guy I spoke to didn't like using the word "retro". Kept saying it was a "grievance award". The way he made it sound, the SBA had filed a grievance and the ruling on it came fairly suddenly and caught them by surprise.

What year would a sergeant have to be promoted to be affected by this?

There is absolutely no information about this grievance case on the NYS Public Employee Relations Board (PERB) website, nor the NYC Office of Collective Bargaining website.

Whether there is or isn't is legitimate. Every Monday on pay week payroll gets the 320s (every member of that commands pay for that week). One of our Sgts got his retro this check.

If you were promoted from March 15, 2017- March 29, 2017 you will go to top pay and receive any where from $30-60k retro.

As usual, the ones who studied hard got promoted first before the PBA contract, continue to get paid less than SGTs promoted after and still get no retro.....
(For those not aware in talking about the Sgts promoted at the end of the 2011 list and the start of the 2013 list. (Prior to the PBAs extra 2.25% which pushed new sgts to get paid more than sgts promoted prior.... )
However, congrats to those getting money. (F the city)

The range is March 15 2017- March 29, 2018. If you were promoted 1 day before or 1 day after these dates you do not qualify.

The pay rates are not the same
This is a real question?
Well it was not on the SBA site and if there was more retro to come since there was no holiday retro
No the rate is based on your salary.
