It appears that we'll be getting 2.25, 2.5, 3 for the three years and an additional 2.25 for nco. Thats essentially %10.5 raises for 3 years. Am I correct on this?

In the email I think Lou turco was implying we wont get the 2.25 neighborhood differential. He said the Pba paid for it themselves through givebacks. They gave up the unborns annuity for 5 years and reduced their first 5 pay steps. I dont think our union has anything to give in order to pay for it.

I think the 1% extra was in reference to corrections. Pretty sure we all get the extra 1 but not civilians in corrections, if I read it correctly.

I hope LT's don't accept what Captains are getting shafted with on the additional %2.25....

7 months of zeros & 1x vacation day every year
for:
0.75% differential at 5 years in rank
1.50% differential at 25 years on the job (wtf?)
So you have to do 26 years in order to maximize your number... garbage.

If youre lucky enough to make it to the rank of captain then Id think youre doing a minimum of 5 years in rank just for the pension. I would think most are doing 10 or 15 years in rank.
We did better than the Captains. Full 2.25% at 5 years in rank.

I imagine, Lou Turco by stating, they secured the raise without delaying pay scale steps, in which the PBA utilized
He had his head up his ass when he agreed to **** on the chart days for 7 years.
What a terrible choice to give this 2.25% once a member has 5 years in rank. Absolutely disgusted by what that does to all future Lieutenants.

Why vote him out? Top pay Lt will be 136k LCD/LSA 149k by the end of this year. By 2021 the full differential kicks in with an additional 3k. Five years in rank to collect, but this is just an incentive to stay a LT and not become a " rising star.". The union didn't need to give up anything to get this differential, except 45 days extended to this contract. That just means when the next contract is settled the raise would kick in on February 2021 not November 2020.
This deal is not great but it secures over a 10k raise this year plus 3k if 5 years in rank. The days of 4-5 % raises are over. Perb is out of the question for our union because it's too expensive. With all the add ons I will be making $200k a year. Not bad for a C student in school there whole life, with no real marketable experience. I just needed to pass 2 civil service promotional exams. I'm voting YES!

You guys are acting as if the City is doing us a favor by agreeing on a mere 2.5pct raise a year. Everything is getting more expensive food, medicine, cars, utilities, and everything else. These prices dont go up by just 2.5pct but 3pct or more. Deblasio and the councilmen know it. Thats why they usually give themselves raises way above what we get. Most decent private sector companies give automatic yearly 2pct raises to their employees. They dont ask them to give up anything. There should be an understanding by the City that inflation is real. We should have Union leaders who value us. There is nothing wrong with the contract but dont think were lucky because we didnt give up anything. Were not even keeping up with inflation. Im upset and voting NO for him because of the body warn cam pay. It doesnt make sense. Were wearing this stupid cameras now, not in five years. Either we get compensated for doing so now or call the pay something else. They should call it Veteran Lts with over 5 years pay

I don't think you guys get it. The city isn't going to give an extra 2.25 differential for free. So the union needs to negotiate to find a way to get it for there members . The PBA got the differential by funding it by a reduction in the salary schedule for newly hired employees ( selling out the unborn). The LBA is funding it by giving it to members with 5 years in rank. I'm sure the city wanted more and the union wanted to give up less to get it. So they met in the middle and came up with the 5 year in rank stipulation. That is called negotiating. We as membership have a right to vote no and make the union go back to the negotiating table. Good luck with that. It's the equivalent of not excepting the penalty of a CD and having the boro decide. You will always get fked!

Lou Turco could care less about the results of this latest contract, he is on his way out anyway. This contract is basically a continuation of the downfall of the economic rights on this job since 2005. The $25,000 a year salary for new hires during 2005. In 2009, tier III started which basically emasculated the entire pension system for new NYPD uniformed employees. By 2010 rookies started calling OMAP to find out when the next LT exam was being held because they knew that was the only way to economically survive on this job. THE POSITION OF NYPD SERGEANT IS ONE OF THE WORST JOBS IN THE COUNTRY! The Desk and Patrol Sergeants run the department but get treated like farm animals by superiors looking to abuse underlings. THE SBA Union President Ed Mullins is self destructing with his insane media appearances which will no doubt have a negative impact on the next contract for his unfortunate union members.

Mullins was the absolute best union leader in the city for many years. He does appear to be going off the rails lately. He has earned negative publicity for himself (and by extension his members) multiple times now.

Ill try to keep this brief, and give you guys some insight into lba and labor negations. Ive been a lieutenant for almost 8 years.
1. Lou Turco is a great guy and he knows what hes doing. There is stuff he does behind the scenes to help his members that go above and beyond.
2. Losing the chart days was the only possible thing the lba could give back to get those raises (2006ish?) Lou said hes been getting his balls busted about the chart days for over a decade.
3. negotiating with the city is crazy. They offer 1%. You want more? Give up a vacation day, make the stretch to top pay longer. Thats the only way the city will give you more $. Its just that simple. They have a money valuation on every benefit we have.
4. Same goes with the body cam $, the Union is essentially paying for the raise by requiring 5 years in rank. Thats just the way it is with city and you shouldnt take it personal.

I believe all of you who come here and forcefully defend Lou are his minions who try to help him save face. There is no logic whatsoever to say that we are getting a raise for BWC, but only the 5 years veteran will get it. What makes him think the newly promoted Lts are not worthy of the raise. We all carry the same burden and responsibilities by wearing one. Like I said people only care about themselves, like the 8 year veteran above. Hes getting the raise, so he doesnt care about the other guys. We can make a statement and come together in this.

I was really angry about the stretch to top pay when I got promoted to Sgt. 4 years and with no raises until top pay. most rookie sgts at that time were really upset about that. But the sba did what they had to do to get the raises that was in the interest of Their current members.
like I said before, the city would only give us the bodycam $ unless the lba funded it. Thats it. That was the only way we could get that $. im not trying to convince you of anything other than how the contract negations work.

Body cams have revolutionized policing. It has saved us more than it has hurt us. It is also a helpful tool in criminal investigations. We have flipped the script to the public recording us and now we record them. You best believe the public hates it as well as all the ambulance chaser lawyers. STOP acting like body cams are a burden. To get extra pay for wearing them is only a plus. Once again the city is not going to give us that for free. We are really not giving or funding it in any way. We just start collecting at the 5 year mark. BTW the % increases are a lot better than the PBA got the last go around with 1%. MOS feel that they deserve a corporate CEO salary because they put there life on the line. The reality is we are civil servant making between 150k-200k a year for a job that is not that hard. If you think it's hard, you are doing something wrong.

the reality is that if you dont go out kicking and screaming on every little detail, if you tell yourself yeah its a fair deal, the city wont give us more without taking more, then youve already lost. As soon you rationalize it, you give the city permission to test the boundaries again the next time. We absolutely should be the most well paid civil service job in the city, not because we put our loves on the line, but because at the end of the day we get stuck with bill. We clean up everyone elses mess, we get ordered to stay an extra 5, 10, 20, 30+ hours for the needs of the dept or some other bull****. We deserve the pay because if someone in some bull**** clerk job gets told to do something they dont like can tell their supervisor to fck off. Those stupid HELP trucks on the highway can refuse orders and file a greivance against their supervisors. The city wants to paint us in the same light, but then quickly forgets that we are the only ones that they can literally bully around to get **** done.

This is the chart for the PBA when they accepted the 2.25% neighborhood policing. It definitely puts into a new perspective on the contract.
Im voting yes, Im a top pay LCD and in 2021 it will be 168K to walk in the door with no OT and no night diff. With 40 hrs a month and Night Diff we are looking at 230k easy
