Didnt the PBA negotiate into their contract some part of the neighborhood policing 2.5% raise for the cameras?

My cops already have it. My command is on the list to get them. I would've gotten them with the cops if I was allowed.

this is bull****...sergeants and lieutenants need to get paid for these cameras, should sue to stop the city...they wont just decide oh you got em now, heres your 2.25%

Everyone in the world keeps telling me how great the sba is over all the other unions. But every time we turn around lately, they get steamrolled by the job. They got beat out by the PBA in the last contract round so bad that they wont give straight answers on the step 3 loophole embarrassment that has been created. And now the job basically shoves the cameras down our throats, no bargaining.
Doing this completely takes all negotiating leverage from the sba. How can you demand new money for something youre already doing? You cant. You have to hope the city negotiatiates in good faith...Ill wait for you to stop laughing at that idea.
Either the SBA new this was coming and is just acting surprised because they cant do anything (ie theyre weak). Or they didnt know at all which means theyre not up to this task of dealing with the city on our behalf.
At what point are do we hold them accountable for failure?

Sorry gotta disagree with you on this one bro.. Ed had been in the trenches, along with Pat, from day one fighting against the insane policies of the City Council.... So they missed the boat one issue when they have been fighting for countless others. They are not failures...just human. Overrall they have been loud voices of reason on a number of issues.

For the record the PBA didn't get a raise based on agreeing to wear body cameras. They just agreed to drop the lawsuit fighting them.

First of all, this is the same pilot program that the pba had prior to their new contract. The SBA has routinely beaten the city in negotiations and through lawsuits and even embarrassed the city multiple times. They are clearly the best union in the entire city. That's not to say they are perfect, but they are very good. The step 3 thing is a minor oversight in the contract, which actually gets new sgts to top pay sooner. The only people bothered by this are cry babies with very little time in rank. Be happy for people who are beating the city for several thousand dollars.

SBA is fine. But they really botched our last contract. Cops were making more than sergeants for two whole years. They settled early and got beat in the end. Not just some sergeants were making less, every step is making less than they should be.
Edit: to clarify, sergeants jumping steps is great, but the step they jumped to should have been step 1 and not step 4. That in turn would have pushed step 2, 3, 4 and top pay higher obviously.

When I was in bmoc November 2016 the SBA Came into the classroom and laughed at the PBA. They said how the SBA was the greatest union on the job. 4 months later the PBA signed their contract and up until Four days ago my cops made more money than me per 80 hours. They still make more money than me overall due to the NCO percent and longevity that decreased for me when I was promoted. I understand its the long game that counts however all of the unions stink. They get bullied each and every time and we go to PERB begging for scraps. Lets not sit here and pretend Mullins or Lynch or Turco are our saviors. They have their gig and good for them but lets call it what it is.

In a perfect world there would be only one union for the entire police department. Unions are only good for dental, glasses and sometimes a lawyer, other times you need your own lawyer .... get over it
