I called the uniform promotion unit a while back regarding this. Their exact response was that you must have "one day in rank."

So pretty much if you enter bmoc before mid July you will be good to go, after that you miss the test

You are not in rank until you cross the stage. Being in BMOC is not being promoted. You can get made upfront but in that case you still would have crossed the stage.

Has that ever happened in the past where they promoted the guys in bmoc early to let them take the LT test, I feel like I have heard of that happening before

I'm pretty sure in 2011 there was promotions on Friday before the test. Cops got promoted to Sgt and took the LT test the very next day. Whether this was done purposely or just so happened to work out I don't really know.

if I remember right, of the last two LT exams, one they did promote upfront and they were able to take the exam and the other they didn't
my guess is, the job schedules promotions based on convenience for scheduling...if they can group together a bunch of promotions on one day, they will schedule it that day regardless of how far into BMOC(yes I know they don't call it that anymore) the future sergeants are. any August class will be a toss up.

TDcarlin I agree. I can't see our job saying "let's hook these guys up so they can take the exam."

Just looking for some thoughts on this. What is the probable list number that they'll make it to prior to the Aug. LT test. Of course I know there are many variables, but was just wondering others thoughts.

I really doubt we'll make it there's almost 300 names left and they haven't been promoting monthly

My guess would be high 700's, so if you're below 800 you should be safe.
I can see 2 more classes going in before the exam date.
