So the Lt.'s test is Wednesday, August 16th. Filing began yesterday, meaning the test date is approximately 5 months from the filing date. Apparently, filing for the Captain exam will begin in May. If the time frame is the same as the Lt. test, we can expect the test to be in October, not November.
Regarding the test location for the Lt. test, obviously it's easy for DCAS to get a location(s) for this exam since the schools are out. However, regarding the Captain exam, the only day that I see the when schools are closed in October is Monday, October 9th (Columbus Day). I don't see the great civilians at DCAS coming in to work on a holiday. So, where the hell are they going to have this test? I see the academy as the only option. Hopefully the test doesn't get pushed to February winter break like they did with this last Sgt. exam.

Maybe since not a lot of people take the Capt exam they would hold the exam at a dcas location or other city building similar when dcas holds the protest session.

Your test will likely not be in a school. DCAS is finalizing an electronic testing location/locations where your exam will be administered via secure computers. We're keeping abreast of this plan by DCAS to see how the in-basket portion will be structured.

Your trying to use logic to determine when the captain test will be. DCAS and the promotional process defies logic.

If they are using the DCAS CTAC's like they use for the PO exams, I would think that you would know if you passed or failed once you submit your answer key. Thats how it works for the PO entrance test. No more waiting for the protest session.

That would be one positive of a computerized testing location

Didn't hear anything. Did the rumor say why?

Not much info at all, just that it will be postponed till February. Something to do with the current LT exam, which makes no sense because they give promotional exams back to back all the time .. Hope it's not true cause I already started hitting the books again and it's probably not since no one else heard any similar rumors

This would suck but since I'm near the end of the LT list then maybe it's a blessing.

Makes sense to have it in 2018. Plenty of names left on the old captain's list and it will let the old lieutenant's list finish out. These captain exams need all the eligible lieutenant candidates they can get.

50 names left on current Captain list. So figure the test is in October (7 months away) then another 5-6 months to come out with the list. So we are looking at a year from now until the new list is out to make 50 Captain promotions. The rumors are just that rumors, test is still on for October of this year.

Don't forget about the 10-12 they are promoting on the 31st. So there's actually 40 names or less left. That being said, I agree with onpointinfo. Still makes sense to have the test in October

I don't know about that. They put a class of 10 captains within a span of every several months or more. No rush to have this exam this year.

Sounds like you're hoping for it to be next year, maybe it benefits you. But if they do 10 captains every 3 months for the next year, which they've averaged, that is the span you're talking about. Test should still be this year but anything is possible and I wouldn't be surprised if it is february

I agree with JustWonderin, your going to have about 40 people left on the list which is the yearly average. The test is in 6 months, plus 6 months to actually establish the list is exactly 1 year. To me even October is cutting it too close. However stranger things have happened this job tends to skip logic at times lol.

All those are good questions, the test will likely be done in the academy since it is the most viable option, I suggest you investigate about it, in google maps you could go to Show maps online about the possible establishments that could be carried out the lt test and thus be more informed about it. Good luck.
