If you get charges you will not get called until you pass and clear CARB

According to department advocate's office, CCRB charges are totally separate from regular charges, and do not hold you up. Been there, done that, and I know someone who got promoted to LT with pending CCRB charges.

If your past history is good CCRB charges will not hold you up, its a case by case basis. If you have had other issues in your past not related to CCRB you will be held up pending the outcome of the charges from CCRB

What about a bullsh*t IAB investigation ? The incident apparently occurred in May and I was GO'ed in October. I'm not sure if the case was closed or not since I haven't received any discipline from it. Would this situation hold me up ? If so, how long does nonsense like this take to clear up ?

I've seen IAB cases hold people up in the past. IAB is notified that your due for promotion and asked to expedite their investigation. So if it's bs they usually clear it up in time. If I were you I would talk to whoever GO15 you and inquire as to the status of the case and advise them your up for promotion soon.

Also I'd assume it would make a difference whether you were the subject or just a witness, I'd give the boro a call and see what's going on.

Thanks for the advice fellas...I really hope a frivolous IAB case doesn't hold me back, then again it's the NYPD so I won't be surprised

Someone in my command (who's top 50) also got notified for Carb that date. I don't understand why the department can't do this before the anticipated start date. This job is backwards SMH !!!

If someone passes the carb board on the 7th, it's definitely possible for that person to be promoted with the rest of the group already in the bmoc class. It's been done before. If it doesn't go well they could hold you up and make you go back before the board at a later time.

If they skipped you on the list and you pass the carb board they will promote you with the group that is in bmoc. You will go to the following bmoc class already a sgt

If you have Charges from CCRB they will hold you up for promotion. Start the ball rolling on a trial or negotiate a plea. You will have to see the CARB board once the charges are signed off. Sorry for the bad news, but I've been through it and I don't want anyone else to get screwed.

IAB cases are also on a case by case basis depending on the severity of the case. Prior to promotion the job calls IAB for every single person pending promotion and someone at IAB then checks if there are any active cases on you, if not you are cleared right away. If you have anything open BS or otherwise it is a simple phone call from the person at IAB who is checking to the Group conducting the investigation. Usually the call goes to the investigators LT asking if you can be promoted and if its a BS case the LT gives the ok over the phone, if its something more serious that LT will say no good and they will call him again with the same question every time there is another promotion. Good Luck

LOL this guy must be trolling...I've been on patrol in a busy house my whole career buddy and I scored in the top 100. I unfortunately got hurt fighting an EDP and the surgeon put me limited without me wanting to be limited. I might go to my own surgeon and force him to put me full duty status this week.
