Does anyone know any specifics of the contract? Will any new/future sgt's be giving up anything as a pose to current sgt's?

If the SBA waits for PERB that would be fine the only issue is PERB will only be settling 2011 and 2012. So the SBA will only have 1 year to compare itself too considering 2011 was settled years ago. The PBA than has to go into negotiations again. Reach another impasse and go to PERB again for 2013 and 2014. The PBA than has to go into negotiations again and repeat the process all over again. Most likely the PBA will get better numbers with some give backs, but it's going to take a couple of years for them to catch up. The SBA can't negotiate based on numbers they don't have. So to wait for PBA's top pay final to get an SBA starting pay would be a very long wait. So I'm assuming what the SBA is thinking was settle now and if it needs to be adjusted in most likely 2-3 years it will. But there are 0 give backs from what I understand for current and future SGT's. They settled the FLSA issues with $1500-$1600 for each member and increased the longevity pay for their members. Top base pay will be about $110k by 2019. I don't know but to me that seems like a pretty fair deal. Waiting for the PBA would be smart but at the same time guys also just want a raise. Lastly the last 2 years of this contract are pretty good numbers and most likely wouldn't have been gotten if they didn't settle in advance. Just my opinion though.

Did a quick google search for the average rate of us inflation from 2011 to present and it looks like the average is 2.4% per year. This contract averages a .85% raise per year for that same time period including that 6 months of 0%. Essentially this contract reflects a pay cut of 1.55% per year from 2011 to present When factoring in inflation.

You can't compare flat percentages to rate of inflation because everyone has a different job with a different salary. 1% for a Chief is very different than 1% for a PO. "The median annual salary among the nation's 106.6 million workers is now about $40,560, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics." That average salary is from last year. Yep, the average salary in the United States of America in 2014 was $40,500...... And the expected average national raise for 2015 is 3%. Guess what 3% of $40,500 is? $1200. What is the BASE SBA raise for 2015? 1%, which based on our salary equals $1000 (more if you factor in night diff of course). I'm not saying it's a great raise by any means, but I don't think it's as bad as everyone makes it out to be when you really put it into perspective.. Into the "big picture" of our country right now. I hope PERB gives the PBA outstanding numbers, but I don't see it happening without givebacks. It is what it is. The fix is in. The pattern has been set.

The pattern was set long before the LBA, DEA or Sgts agreed to their contracts. If the PBA thinks they are getting 3 or 4 percent raises without some serious givebacks, they are dreaming. The reason the LBA, SBA and DEA took the deal is because they dont have the unborn they can dangle as givebacks. The "unborn" in the other unions have 5, 10, 15 years on the job.

I must be in the minority. But this contract is NOT good. There are 18 months of Zeros in this contract they don't state it but if you do the math they are in there. I can see how people can look at the numbers and say it's a fair deal because they see a retro coming there way and a top pay of 110 in 2019. What's sad is a cop in San Francisco is making 112 to walk in the door RIGHT NOW! They start at 80,000. San Jose Pd tops out at 104. We all like to compare to Nassau and Suffolk but those are suburban police depts. I like to compare to major metropolitan police depts. Isnt the NYPD the "greatest police dept in the world" as everyone likes to say? It's disgusting how far behind we are. Pattern bargaining is unacceptable. A 1% raise to a captain making 146,000 is vastly different than a cop making 76,488. What's even more disturbing is the lack of participation within the union. DEA didn't receive 50% of their membership votes for their recent contract. It's an indication of laziness and shear ignorance. Further proof unions are losing a stronghold with city hall because no one gives a sheet. But yet those same detectives who didn't vote are the ones who are bitching about the contract.

Get off the presidents tit challenge him, he consistently said he would not accept a ZERO!! And I quote "ZEROS CAN NOT BE MADE UP!" His words, what happened? Contract is garbage, and everyone claims nobody does their due diligence when voting well remember the sgts voting are the same sgts who think becoming LT is better than being a Sgt with a boatload of chart days and leaving the SBA with arguable the best benefits for crappy Lt benefits which suck if you have a family all for a few more dollars a paycheck after taxes so yes people on this job are anything but intelligent.

I dont remember anyone saying the contract is good. What you dont get is that the union did the best they could with the cards they were played. Its as simple as this, and trust me i am not apart of the union in everyway. I believe we deserve 5's if not 10's. But the reality is, the pattern was set when the teachers signed. So what are the options? go to perb? alot of ppl say wait for the pba, problem is what the PBA did in the past. If the PBA does do better in PERB, then at what cost? sure take the vacation days away from the unborn. GO AHEAD! no one is hurt! except, try to find those savings as the SBA. The unborn are the same ppl on here begging to get promoted. Dont blame mullins, he did the best he could and i dont see any other alternative.

Your wrong plain and simple, there was plenty of fight over the summer then all off sudden the fight stopped? Why? What happened at the meeting with all the unions and the PC, no Union head will give the answer. I will vote no and I'm sure everyone will say they will vote and guess what it will pass too many spineless MOS ON THIS JOB.
Looks like its falling in line with the DEA, LBA
We will see ... PERB is not going to give 0s so right off the bat it would be better
