What happens if the pba settles a contract before the sba. Then the top pay cop now has a salary exceeding the fourth pay step for a sgt. (Roughly only 4900 more). Then the top pay cop gets promoted??

I would think the SBA would now have to push for a restructuring of the Sgt. Salary pay chart and its would bump up the salaries of all ranks, hence fingers crossed that the PBA doesn't screw this up for us all...

If the pba settles first and promotion occurs then your salary remains the same until the SBA salary passes yours. There is no adjustments made. There was no bump last contract settlement when pba had a higher top pay then starting Sgt. Eventually it was adjusted to start Sgt's at $700 starting more a year which is what it still currently is. But I'm thinking any one on the 2013 list won't have to worry about that.

Yeah Semp, Lord Knows I'm taking a huge pay cut from making 465 hours overtime as a top pay cop, I'm gonna. Have to bite the bullet at starting pay Sgt.
(Maybe a dumb question, but I'm curious)
