It's a good life if you don't mind the hours. No radio runs, No desk. Just gotta be careful around the rookies. They will throw you under the bus for anything.

I'm not a impact SGT but I deal with impact cops all the time. Very clueless and whenever I tell them to do something they dont like they always end up calling their sgt and crying like little babies.

That's when I'll ask Officer What's Your Name? Well if you keep crying I'm going to nickname you officer Klenex, so dry your eyes and stop crying...

Shame on their supervisor then. If it was me and its that big of a problem, why not talk to their boss. Crying doesn't help if you and their boss are on the same page.

you sound like an azz. Yeah, you're probably a real azz of a sgt, definitely a sgt that takes the rank and thinks you are god. As a sgt, instead of picking on rookies to feel great about yourself, why dont you teach them and show them the proper way of doing things.

Gotta defend Cry here. The impact crap I'm receiving makes me seriously regret going to Manhattan as a Sgt. Maybe it is because I wasn't a boss, but as a cop with 9 years on in Brooklyn, the rookies didn't seem as bad as what I'm getting out of MTS.

Your obviously not in an impact command. In mine we have irt, they are all complete hammers, dont listen to a word of advice from a precinct patrol cop. They come out of the academy basically into a detail. They have unmarked cars, their own office and do their own thing. They come to patrol and complain about doing transports and hospitals. They are told not to listen to the patrol cops because if we knew anything we wouldn't be on patrol. They run to their boss and complain when anything is said to them. When they get into a patrol squad they just continue with what they did in impact, instead of learning the job they do whatever they are told and than some to get into special ops. We got guys with 1.5 years on in sneu for christ sakes!

How soon everyone forget they were a rookie one time or another. Let me take that back, some sgts forget they were once cops on the day of promotion.

I was an IRT Sgt for about 2 1/2 years and it was great! Plenty of Ot, take off whenever you want and best of all, not deal with the patrol bull****. I heard a lot of complaining by the pct cops(Second hand of course.) I got lucky and landed a squad of motivated hard working cops but I also to the time to trained them. It's just the way the job is now. I wasn't a big fan of impact in general when I was a cop(FTU cop here) but I went out there and did my job anyway...just saying.

Turd is absolutely correct. Impact rookies are totally spoon fed. They complain about EVERYTHING and when the desk tells them to do something during a day tour blap they call their sgts they cry whine and bitch.
I absolutely remember being a rookie. First time I came back to the command for 63 the 25 year desk LT asked wtf I was doing. I said taking a meal. He then proceeded to ask again wtf are you doing in my command rookie. I never went back for meal in the command during my 6 months in impact.
Mind you this was like 8 years ago so I'm no dinosaur on this job.
Some might not agree but I'm all for putting rookies in their place. They need to be reminded that they are rookies and respect rank and the vets on this job.

That 25 year Lt is a fu...ng scumbag. It happened in my cmd, rookie got kicked out the house by the DO and got assaulted while eating at Chinese restaurant.
We call ourselves a paramilitary organization, and yet no NCO in the armed forces would deny a private to enjoy his meal in a squad bay or chowhall. that's not how you train or treat your subordinates

Im not saying to be a complete tool to the rookies, but there is no reason to treat them like they earned anything either. When I came out we were treated like crap. You would never ask a boss anything unless you asked a senior cop first, and forget about going anywhere behind the desk. Now everyone thinks their sgt is a pal. I guess im just old fashioned

Im an *******?
i once ordered a new impact cop to get in a bus and take a perp to the hospital who needed urgent medical attention and the first think he did was call his sgt and tells me that i needed to "talk" to his SGT first before I can order him to go to the hospital
Now what u expect me to say. U want me to smile and say "ok sir you can do whatever u want" lol

Those of you who did impact in 03-04 probably remember when impact reported to pct you did all kinds of **** details that pct did not want to

I've recently saw a rookie complain to a delegate that he was denied a saturday off in the summer, and the delegate went to bat for him and got him off. Thats what happenends when you have no respect as a rookie and a delegate with 6 years on. I remember when I was a rookie I didnt even want to speak to my delegate because they had 17+ years on and I didnt want them to flip my locker. Rookies don't understand what no excusals means. They think that they can have off any day they want.

cry i hope u ripped that guy a new one. that is the opposite of what i tell my guys to do. If another boss gives them an order, i have told them, to follow the order but then they need to tell me where they are, because i am responsible for them.
