I dont care if I gave myself up. I dont have anything to hide. This is supposed to be a helpful forum. And I didnt need a copy and paste answer, I could have went to nyc.gov/nypd myself. I need first hand advice from someone who has actually worked there before. And there are 3 of us who are going there so you technically still wouldnt know for sure who I am. Unbelievable!

Hey cry....i talked to two guys i know who went there...both hated it. They said real ****hole and commute suxs for long islanders. I think its alot easier to get transfered as a sgt and there are openings....do your 6 months to a year and request out....ppl will prob make fun of me for this but if i was at a command i truly hated...id even consider iab...but thats a personal choice

Everyone I know that has gone there as supervisors hated it. Make the best of it and after 6 months (if you don't like it) put in for SARB. I heard it's very difficult to get out of housing (other than through promotion or SARB).

OCCB has first dips now. Either way, at times that risk is worth taking if you're in a horrible command.

I got sent to housing out of BMOC, but not PSA5. If you are coming from a precinct, there is definitely a big adjustment going into housing. Where I'm at there are literally no cops. I came from an A house and always heard about how short the NYPD was on cops, but never saw it myself until I got to housing. But coming from an A house the pace is much slower, and more relaxing as a sgt because you know that if you don't have anyone available the precinct will pick up the slack. Housing never goes into backlog lol.
If you have any questions let me know, and look out for Salerno. ;)

Are you for real , CIWarrior? I never figured you for a worry wart. If you have worked in any sort of "A" or "B" house then you will do fine at PSA 5. I only see a problem if you came from a country club kind of command. If you have any trouble adjusting and you need a shoulder to lean or cry on feel free to reach out to me at the 023 pct.
If all else fails then do your 6 months and request a safer command.

bro you dont know me so dont comment. To each their own. To be honest with you, all these ppl who suck their teeth at IAB, there are SOME good ppl in it. PPL WHO YOU WANT TO BE IN THERE WORKING A BS CASE AGAINST YOU. Ill tell you straight up right now, if you give me the bronx with a 2 hr commute everyday, id be the first to tell you id volunteer for iab if i had no other choice other then staying in the bronx. NOW go ahead and crucify me, dont really matter to me. IVE never worked for IAB so it mite be worse, but id rather take 2 years of misery then ten years dealing with housing

Because most people in IAB don't want to be there, they handle the BS cases the right way. Its not bad that people get drafted to IAB, some people you want in there, others you don't.

Who cares if cops wanna go to IAB? As long as u r not a dirty cop u have nothing to worry about..... Now volunteering for inspections is a whole other story!

Been paying tolls for most of my career working in the Bronx, patrol and housing and no end in sight I thought getting promoted to Sgt would get me some where I wouldn't have to pay for the tolls. Ill prob he right back in the BX after my next promo. But I'll never volunteer for the rat sqd. I'd rather suffer 10 years of paying tolls than be known as the one that requested for IAB. No good bosses volunteer for IAB.

I agree with HB. Volunteering for IAB is nothing compared to volunteering for inspections. IAB is there for a reason, because there are crooked cops on the job that dont deserve to be on it. Inspections hurts good guys. I honestly dont know what Im gonna do. I dont even care about how busy a command is but 2 hours and a 50 mi commute every day is just ridiculous.
