this exam and ist was long overdue had i entered the academy 6 months before i could have been a captain already !!!! WTF what a diffirence 6 months made so instead of being a captain with 10 years on if i choose to take the test now (next one) is 15 years on

Lt is the biggest hump to get over. Those from the July 2001 and 2002 had 4 cracks at Sgt in order to be eligible for this Lt exam. You could have picked your time to study, based on your particular life and work situation. Same goes for Captain, with the recent frequency of exams. If you missed this Lt test, you're screwed. It's all about timing.

I for one don't have any regrets. It took me 7+ years to make Sgt. but the experience I gained was invaluable (not to mention I was able to earn my Detective shield). I feel it made me a better boss. Just my thoughts.

Edubz you don't think the captains exam will be a more frequent thing with these poor results lately ? When do you think they will give another one ?

I bet there's another Capt exam in 2 years. At most 100 passers on this past one, and they are about halfway through the 2010 list.
