I am assuming that everyone who took the 2012 Captain's exam has finished the test by now and by the silence on their forum, I will also assume that it was a fair test.
I don't know if any of you believe in symbolism but if today's weather was an indicator of how fair their test was going to be then I think they made out okay. Unfortunately, October 29th was a day of freezing rain, snow, icy windshields and a truly f#cked up lieutenant's test.

My buddy took it...said it was right down the middle. Don't want to post details and give the Sabbath cheaters an advantage

Great, so when we're eligible to take the next Cpt's exam, the job will be ready to give another abortion of an exam.

I agree 100% with you Stig on not divulging any info. Let anyone who has yet to take today's exam go in cold like the rest of us have to.
I also heard the same thing and pray we get a fair shot when it's our turn.

I signed up for the captain test hoping I would be promoted by now. Obviously, that plan worked out about as well as ordering surf and turf in a greek diner. I did sit for the test anyway.
My general feeling from talking to people at the test site is that nobody studied. In my room maybe two people had that nervous look, the rest of the people were BS'ing about having a free day off patrol etc. So I still think the list will not be too big, at least I hope there's another test soon.
Without giving too much away, it was a ground-ball exam. If you studied at all, you'd have to try hard to fail. There were no confusing, two page long nonsense stories about cops stealing toilet paper. There were a few tough and obscure questions but they were well written. I do see there will probably be a trend of judgement questions and "hybrid" questions where they give a long convoluted story and ask you to come up with an answer based on several procedures, for example a line of duty/prisoner unusual/RMP accident rolled into one.

There's 74 names left on the old Capt list, that will probably take close to a year to go through. I sure hope ours is out before this list, ugh.

Why don't they just give the tests on sundays to combat this sabbath BS. I think the 99% of test takers who don't pull that scam would agree.
