They make sure you don't have any issues that could delay your promotion like an open IAB case, lack of credits, force monitoring, etc... If you don't have any issues you won't even know it happened most of the time.

HAHHAAHHA! Moron? And yet here I am about to become a Sgt in the 3rd BMOC of this test. I can smell the disdain you have for senior men all the way here. Sure hurts to be you, doesn't it? Must really be cold standing there in the shadow of my hash marks...LOL! It is ok, at least when a patrol question stumps you you can call on me to help ya. Never forget that a cop with 5 years is considered a rookie while a 5 year sgt is still considered a rookie...LOL!
And no I do not hate you for being a rookie. Without you my seniority would mean nothing...LOL!
Empty suit? BWHAHAHAHHAHA! I was collaring up while you were still bagging groceries at D'agostino's. I would gladly put one of my years against your entire five years on the job. Please do not be angry just because you were not on the job when 911 happened. You are no hero, kid...you are more like the true ZERO!

I believe collars paint a positive broad stroke on cops. I think people are too quick to assume a high collar guy is a "great" cop. Maybe he DID hustled for ever felony/misd, maybe he DID actual police work. But...maybe he kept padding stats with 511's. Maybe he DID make great felony collars on paper but in actuality they were handed to him because he was a CO/XO's/Supervisor's pet.
I think a true measure of a great cop is what he has collared and the frequency but also:
1) how he treats his fellow brothers and sisters in particular his platoon mates or team mates (think crime, SNEU, conditions etc)
2) if you're a patrol guy:
- does he handle his sector? - does he **** someone else by them getting stuck on jobs in his sector? - does he milk the clock on a collar when others are looking to go to meal? - is he that guy that always gets people down to rector street because he is getting accused of tuning up guys or cursing/going ballistic on people for what seems like no reason? - is he a job jumper? is he that car that backs you up then tries to be kojack and run the scene?
I think these factors ALONG with a BADS record helps give any MOS a BETTER VIEW OF THE MAN/WOMAN IN QUESTION.

Just like in real life bro.... too many one way, egocentric, self-pitying (insert any adjective here that describes a jerk) tools on this job.
This forum, very much, reflects most if not all real commands/units on this job. Rather than congratulate people for any accomplishment, people often resort to hatred and sabotage, resulting in backstabbing and what have you... People complained about the job deviding and conquering, but we have no one else to blame but ourselves. We're making their job easier by voluntarily dividing ourselves, thus doing half the work for them.
All these arguments regarding collars and time on patrol are moot points. Ask yourself a simple question; Have people always or most of the time thought of you as an a$$h0le? If yes, then you'll be that kind of a supervisor regardless of your time and collars... and vice versa!
Correct me if I'm wrong any current supervisor out there since I've never been in your position (hopefully soon enough!!) but I don't think it's that hard to be a GOOD boss. All a good boss needs is some sort of compassion and shows that he/she genuinely cares for his/her subordinates. Remember all the jackass bosses that you encountered as cops... Don't be like them! If you didn't like it back then, then what makes you think your subordinates will like it now. Just don't do something to others that you don't like done to yourself... simple!! Last but not least, be HUMBLE!!!!!!!!!! There's always something to learn whether you have 2 minutes in rank/on the job or 20 years.

Why is it always cops who have no time on and who get promoted are the ones that always talk the most crap about the senior men in their BMOC or their sqds. I just pass this test and I am hitting 10 yrs next year. I am not stupid or lazy. I took 2 other exams but never studied. Why are the rookie soon to be sgts attacking me or others for having the balls to join this job at an early age. Why does our experience threaten you? This tough talking young turds really do not understand how the real world works. BTW, I served in the first Iraq war so stop trying to impress me with your Afghan war stories.

I guess the highlight of their careers are pinpointing what date the next BMOC goes in. I wonder if Ondeeair has fabricated a homemade pin to put over his badge.
I have no doubt that upon graduating BMOC, Ondeerair will be displaying a new addition to his already bloated rack of home made useless medals. Some guys are just that ridiculous.
