Does anyone knows pay steps as per current LT's contract? Also, are there any chart days?

I tried to look it up on LBA site any info regarding this but i didnt find anything useful. During BMOC i heard LT said that it takes two years to top pay but you don't get chart days until you're 7th year.

Because a) they signed a ****ty contract to get higher pay and b) the city wants to make the Lt rank less appealing.

Its 3 years to top pay. You work 8:45 no matter what position you're given. No chart days for the first 3 years. After 3 years you slowly start to get a couple here and there......I don't remember how many but its something like 1 or 2. It takes 7 years in rank to get full chart days. Trust me, if you're not prepared to become a capt, there is no reason to take this rank. It sucks big time. You might not think so but sgt is now the best rank on the job.

Well i'll be taking the Lt rank with about 140 days on the books, so hopefully the non-chart day issue wont be a big deal

Very smart idea Brat. I had about 2/3 of your time on the books that i carried over. It will help you not to think how much you're getting screwed under that chart. I was able to find the salary steps under the current contract.
Step 1 102,091
Step 2 102,492
Step 3 102,960
Step 4 112,574
Don't you just love the way you get nickled and dimed for 3 years!

first yr midnight LT will make same as top pay day tour LT. they should of made top pay at least 15g's difference. and u lose about 1 month vac (chart days) per year for almost 7 yrs. horrible contract. and they gave chart days away for pay? what pay i dont see any good pay, especially for the first 3 yrs.

They gave away the chart days so that they were still able to maintain the 3 yrs to top pay. Otherwise it would have been at least a 4 year stretch. However I must say, the amount of chart days you lose over 7 years doesn't seem to equal keeping top pay at 3 yrs rather than 4. Over those 7 years, you're losing a good 80 chart days! Lateriser, thats a good point you made about doing midnights if you're a rookie LT. Unfortunately for me, I cannot stand midnights. It seems the older I get the harder they are on me.

Fortunately, contracts always changes. HOPEFULLY when the LBA settles their next contract, it will be more appealing. That is what happened for the SBA in the summer of 2007. After that contract got settled, a lot of people wanted to take the 2008 exam.
We shall see what happens. No one should keep their options closed anyway. Pass the test, then decide what you would want to do.
- Either way, Good Luck to all. Stay safe.
And remember, stay thirsty my friends.

You have a lot of hope! When is the last time we gained without losing? One thing you have to keep in mind is that the LBA doesn't have the flexibility that the PBA has in negotiations. There is not much more we can give up.
