Will there be a class now.....Thats the question

Two hours ago a closed friend of mine advised me that a guy in his command got notified to attend a class to be held in April!

was it phase 1 notification?

Way too early. I doubt your friend was notified to attend BMOC in April, maybe phase 1. I've never seen someone notified a month early for Bmoc. But I do hope there is a class in April...

why dont you ask your good friend about the notification.

I also had the feeling the friend of the friend was talking about phase 1, but the information I got was that the guy already went to phase 1 last month and got notified for BMOC to start in april. Dont kill the messenger. -machine

well app the info but it sounds bogus.  you dont get notified for bmoc until the finest comes down

They don't know when the next class is going to be. No one said there will not be an april class but as of now they don't know when it will be. If I hear anything I will let everyone know.

I honestly think the list will be in mid 500s come december

25 sergeant when in to the academy today for lieutenant.

Unless ur friend was passed over and EMD called him advising him that there will be putting in a class shortly in order to determine if they would be eligible to go in. It happen to my buddy a couple months back but I highly doubt that's what ur friend meant.

The puzzle palace is being swarmed right now with people from all ranks leaving this place. You can blame it on bloomberg he is really scaring people with the variable supplement. The big classes that were hired in the 90s are here and now the job is just counting how many people are leaving

Doc, that's not true, they can accommodate Sgt/LT's at the same time. I was in Nov Sgt BMOC and they had a class of LT's in the classroom next door at the same time as us.

Just got word. Class is going in, at the end of the Month. No word on numbers.

there are 26 or 27 lt in bmoc now its only 2 weeks for them and there is a police academy of 600 going in april and the instructors are saying maybe 800 more in july

As far as new recruits, it is supposed to be a small class. Deputy Commissioner Chapman had said that he expects there to be a small class in April. Right now, the NYPD Cadets have to report for their pre-recruit academy class. (It's like a month long or something like that before the academy actually starts.) That said, I have been hearing rumors from just those cadets going into the academy all the way up to 600 recruits. I honestly don't know for sure. Also, I checked and they have cleared educationally up to list number 314 still. (I checked last week). I will check it periodically and will let everyone know if that number increases.

I just checked today and they bumped up the number of those cleared to 320.

Handled a 53 in the recent days and a person involved said they were expected to go into the academy in April. After hearing that from them the rumors of an April Academy class to me sounds good. Can that change, sure of course, but hopefully if there is that will help move the Sgt's along.

Academy class starts April 4. Around 550-600

The list is moving very fast and it will keep moving more hiring and more retiring required more sergeants

Hey I heard they dont promote at all in the SUMMER. Is that true?

Fodx, don't panic! The only time they didn't promote in summer was last year. Is it possible? Yes, but due large retirements they will need supervisors. In February another 20 sgt retired and another 25 are getting promoted. There is many more retirements to come.

hey everyone, just a quick question. according to rumors we have a sgt test coming up in june 2012. does that mean that this list wont finish till 2013? looking at the previous exams, they always gave a test like a yr before finishing the list. what do you guys think>?

hey guys and girls. just a quick bit of info. a friend of mine that just got out of BMOC says that he was told that there will be a class going in on April 4th. no word on how many. i hope the info is accurate. if anyone else can confirm this and provide actual numbers please do so. everyone stay safe and OUT OF TROUBLE.

i was told as of today the bmoc  instuctors said its to early to tell unless you mean a  class of recuirts

Its all rumors about exam dates, we are in the mid 200's and another 3 or 4 classes and were halfway through the list. My educated guess would be another Feb Sgt exam. They need another back up exam just in case this list runs out

As far as recruits go, they are shooting for around the 500 range. There is a possibility of a July class of around the same amount, give or take a few hundred. I spoke to some people and was told that there was a meeting at the PA and even though it was a guarantee that there was no class for March, there is a decent chance there will be one for April. After that, nobody knows for certain.

Heard yesterday 75 for Monday 4th!! Also heard they will pass 300 mark (guess there will be a few passovers) Also got info that next sgt exam will be beginning of next year! Very credible

I can totally see a test sooner than the original projected dates...If we will be at 300 by April...its safe to say 375 by June...500 by the end of September. At that pace, which is fairly slow and conservative, the list will be exhausted by Jan/Feb. I cant see the department not having a list to fall back on once this list is exhausted. If they give an exam in the summer of 2012, that means that at best the list will be ready for release and promotions by Jan 2013.

but you have to look at this from the viewpoint of DCAS who is giving the exams........running 2 exams  at the same time is very difficult ..........proposed Captains exam in March.........so if it's earlier, it cant be too much earlier..........the only thing I can see them doing is switching the Capt exam and the Sgt exam spots and have sgt exam in March with Captains in June

I've been pretty much thinking that when another test is announced is when the list will start going. The job could legitimately establish the next list within three months or so of giving the test. They probably had all our raw scores, barring the add-on points, within a week at the most. Our test was a special case in taking so long to become official because promotions came to a total halt. I'm in the low 500's and am hoping these estimates are accurate for my Lt. chances. We just gotta remember that promotions usually slow a bit for the summer, but with so many guys retiring and two potential recruit classes, maybe it'll keep moving. But the city won't go without another list at the ready either. That should be the true guide for the speed our list will move. There has to be a six month prior announcement for it.

So the finest would come down on March 30 at 1700 hrs
