let's get out of all illusions and look forward for September Class for 152 Sergeants finishing 2008 list. Rumors are good but reality is better! Waiting sucks and gives incentive to study harder next time.

Does anyone really think they'd promote 150+ in september? I just cant see why they would go from 0's month after month then promote the entire remaining list. I think we will be doing this till at least years end.

some of you guys should've written up those 3 511's you made, and you wouldve been in march's class.

Back in April I heard from someone from personnel that the next bmoc wont be til November. ....of course I called bull**** on that,but its starting to seem true. ****!

With shootings and crime up they cannot afford to lose any cops, especially with no cops coming in the last two years.

When the big boss asks 'what are you guys doing about the increase in crime?' They cannot say 'well we just lost 150 cops to promotion to sgt.' Thats not going to fly.

Summons are also down for the year. 100 cops could generate hundreds of thousands of dollars in revenue. 100 sgts cant.

Theres nothing until year end when the 1000+ graduate and compstat is a clean slate for a new year.

Keeping crime down, and getting revenue for the city, is more important to the mayor/pc then you getting three stripes sewn onto your shirts.

That is the most sense I have heard on this website in a long time. Not wat ppl want to hear. Nut it is the absolute truth. I can imagine it being like this till the new class actualy is om the streets. Punding the pavement with thier new boots then mAybe they will Start to promote bigger classes. And the list should move relatively fast very important question I am wondering is. What wl the next academy class look like. I'm wondering. Cause if it goes back to. 250. Then. Yes. It will b moving slow again at about June

A few weeks ago Ray Kelly said in ny 1 interview that the city was set up for a class for jan 2011 but because of the budget issues they moved it too april 2011. atlease 800 recruits are set up for that date. i saw this interview myself no bulls#$%t

If they keep putting in large academy classes we'll have nothing to worry about

yea but bloomy had also said that they plan to hire 3-4000 cops within the next 3 academy classes (the current class of 1200, then 1200 in jan 2011 and 1200 in july 2011. i cant see this list going past the end of the year. u guys will get promoted. if it were to go into 2011, i think january would be the last 2008 class. dont rush it, much more fun being a cop

JustWondering, you're joking right?  Being a cop is fun for a chosen few, the rest have to eat ****.

I think everyone should just be patient. I'm sure everyone has these high hopes of getting promoted, being sent to a great command, and getting a great tour with a great group of cops. Truth of the matter is, most likely when you get promoted, you're getting sent to a **** hole doing the tour you least want to do b/c all the other Sgts already have seniority. If you think you're getting sent to midtown north or south, the 111, or transit, think again. Chances are you'll end up in housing or Bk North or the Bx doing some weird tour. Enjoy your time as cops b/c chances are, you have something halfway decent by now. When you get promoted, you're buried at the bottom again. It sucks waiting, but don't let the idea of getting promoted consume you. And you absolutely shouldn't have ideas of grandeur b/c chances are, if you're not happy as a cop, you won't be any happier as a Sgt.

So if there actually was a September class when would the finest come down?? Do you think it would be 8/25 or 9/1???

Heard they will exhaust 2008 list with one last big class in Sept.

I said it in another post, I just can not see the job exhausting our list in one final class. I would believe 1/2 in sept 1/2 in november. Narco, I do hope you're right though.

Well I also heard from my ICO that there will be 40 more Sgts promoted to Lt on the 27th. So with the last group of 40 and another group of 40 Sgts getting promoted (if it's true). They are gonna need to put in huge class, plus let's not forget alot of retirements lately. Let's hope.

I don't want to get everybody's hopes up but my Admin Lt. received a called last week and was told that a Sept. class would be going in and that all of those with pending CD's (myself included) had to get them adjudicated ASAP. He was also told that I would be in this next class and I'm in the LOW 570's, so hopefully that means a large class.

I actually wish I had a fresh CD so that I could wait for that call to my admin lt. Isn't that sad??

guys on the 08 list waitin to get made at my cmd have been getting their CD's handled also recently. they are towards the bottom of the list as well... hope that means good news ...

I heard from a good source that there will not be Sgt. class in september. There will be 40 Lt. and some Capt. class but no Sgt. I hope this is not true.

Once again I have heard from a reliable source- a large class will go in at the end of this month consisting of everyone on list 7508 with the exception of Kingdouche, unfortunately for the king his consistent lack luster enforcement activity will be landing him on monitoring just in time to not be promoted- should have come in with some hazardous King because im about to dethrone you

I am not one to run my mouth and write for no reason. A Sgt of mine who got promoted from the last class was told by the Chief of transit to select where they wanna go because he knows that a class will go in bfore labor day. Great source and I cosign this message. We will see if u guys don't blieve me remember " I told you so "

well, hope you're right.

If he got promoted from last class, why is he being asked where he wants to go now? And, why does it matter if there is a class or not for him to get his pick?

A guy in my precinct who is close to being made said he was at a bar, and his hook, the civilian cleaner told him to start thinking about where he wanted to go because the Chief of Police from Sienna PD told him that he received a message via carrier pigeon from Ray Kelly tha they're putting in a class of new sergeants sometime before the decade it over. True story. Why would I make it up. Next time a class goes in I'll be telling you I told you so.
