The source is a sgt. who works at bmoc. No May Class, a June class is probable. The 150 left on the lis will get promoted in due time.

And in due time they'll start the 09 list... Ch7 last nite said the city is going to hire at least 900 in July ... To fill the guys ready to retire.. This could start the big academy classes again, which in turn will move the sgt classes.... Cross your fingers..

had a good source tell me yesterday that the reason for no may class is because they want one in june to be ready for all the details in july, so take it for what its worth and we will see!

unfortunately the mayor made cuts and avoided laying off 900 cops not hiring 900 more.  The worst is the wait.....omg....could be worse i guess...sucks for all the sgts on the Lt list....now thats brutal

When they talk about about "laying off" 900 cops it was through attrition.
For all you idiots who don't understand what that means, it is that they will let cops retire and not fill the ranks, so the dept. will shrink. No one was gonna get fired.
So now as guys retire, they will fill their slots, e.g. Keeping our numbers the same and academy classes of more than 100.

YES ATTRITION IS  the gradual reduction of the size of a work force that occurs when personnel lost through retirement or resignation are not replaced. But also, by not putting in an academy class is another way of cutting jobs.  Bottom line is  if u have a bit more info on a topic just enlighten us please we are all one in blue.  That means if one of us is "an idiot" we are all Idiots.

By my math, 1200 PO's need 150 Sgt's... so hopefully they will blow thru the 08 list this summer... crossing my fingers.

Fmzac .... I don't know who you were referring to, however, if you read 4 crime post, then clearly your the "not so bright one", or just another jumpy cop... The job is short 5000 cops... They now may put steady classes in...

Fmac, attrition means, they have already set aside $$$ for academy classes.., the last few years, they were not putting the classes in, aka, attrition.... Now bloomberg is using the most of his public speeches and getting the public to realize, that cops are the most important agency... Therefore putting most of that $$ Bk into the academy classes... We won't see a real difference on the streets for a few years, however, the sgts classes may move again..

Trust me, I hope you are all right and things start moving alot quicker. I'm waiting too and as anxious as anyone to get promoted.

One of my Sgts. told me that typically, BMOC does not put in a summer class. (Usually due to vacations, details, etc.) Another Sgt. also told me that between the class of 1200 going in in July and a large class set to retire this year (in think it's october) they'll need a lot more sgts. All we can do is hang tight and wait.

I guess there is no news inrefernce to a June BMOC class. This forum has been very quiet lately. This waiting is driving me crazy

I heard that since crime is up the city cannot accept losing any cops to promotion. Those are bodies that wont be filled. Theres a rumor that theres no promotions until January when the new academy class hits the streets.

I just heard from the custodian who cleans the bathrooms in the basement of 1pp that he overheard a counter person at the equipment section say that there will in fact be a june class and it will finish this list, with one exception- thewolf will be left behind for me to OWN- Your'e still mine!

i'm no expert but it seems like they would want the sergeants set to train the class graduating in january to have a little experience, so they would need to put the BMOC in a little earlier than january, no?

Called uniform promotions, they said no June class.

Wow. Another month without a BMOC. I wonder what's the reason for that. I know that we did get a new chief of personnel, so maybe he's doing things differently. Or, maybe it's a budget issue or they just don't need anymore sergeants???? We should just wait and see...

Last year same thing. No April may or June class. They did put a class in for July the every other month after that

Just reporting from what I heard from a guy with a reliable source that has a VERY reliable source that knows a PAA that works in an office next to the personell office that knows another PAA that used to work there that talks to another PAA that retired 5 years ago who passed by to visit, over heard behind a closed door that a P.O. at personell was telling another P.O. that he read on the bathroom wall that a reliable source said that the 2009 exam will start promoting after the New Year. 20 every other month up to list number 450.
