Does anyone know if the 4% budget cuts are going to affect promotions and or the hiring of new cops?

ive learned not to hold my breathe but man i hope ur right...and i hope that its more than 36 people...alotta people have been saying it around my command but the department like everything else is very tight-lipped about everything nowordays unlike years ago when u would know the next 3 classes going in and the amount of people...lets keep hoping for that december class....and to the last post i dont think that the 4% budget cuts have an effect cause from what i understand, the money set aside for hiring/promotion is set at the beginnig of the fiscal year...but what the hell do i know and even if thats true im sure they can move allocated money to many other places where they need it...we shall see

ICO was contacted to by EMD to make sure CD count was correct and that there were no pending CDs on this last Monday for my friend, low 500s. You know who you are. Dec class is possible.

Even if it is true isn't a Dec 23 class late enough to be considered a January class???? Therefore, promotions being every other month???

I believe he's saying promotion ceremony being held the 23rd. Meaning, a class would be entering late november early december. If true, who's to say that's not a lieutenants class.

The Lts get promoted and then they enter 2 week class like BMOC.

If the 2008 list continues like the entire 2009 year, ie bmoc every other month then it should be like this:
January 2010 bmoc - mostly skip overs that hit 5 years.
March bmoc, then May bmoc, then the final bmoc of the 2008 list in July 2010 or so.

Brooklyn that would depend on the city budget, when the fiscal year ends and the allocation of federal monies that are coming to NY for law enforcement. We could have a large Jan BMOC and a FEB if the money is there dedicated to new hires, etc. PLUS we have a large group retiring from Safe City Safe Streets soon right? Almost 10,000 in that group so they MIGHT put in a July class to make up for that huge loss... There are many variables and the only true thing is that "common sense" does not apply to any of it. Now all we can do is be patient...

FOR THE NEW SGTS. THAT WERE PROMOTED ON THE 24TH ARE YOU GUYS PERMANENTLY ASSIGNED TO YOUR COMMANDS? I NOTICED THAT YOU GUYS ARE STILL TEMPORARILY ASSIGNED TO THE ACADEMY. WHAT IS THAT ALL ABOUT? IF THOSE ARE YOUR NEW COMMANDS WHEN DO YOU GET PERM. ASSIGNED?

The new Sgts are assigned to BMOC until the 6th. I believe the way it works is, they go to their commands for a few days, kind of like an FTU, then go back to BMOC for a day or two until their permanetly assigned.

PS- Maybe I'm wrong because I never paid much attention to this promotion stuff before, as I was never on a list, but I don't remember there being December classes. It doesn't seem to make sense with all the Holidays, alot of vacations, etc.
