I personally think bad economy means more crime. So, if anything, they'll have more cops and sergeants.

It also means budget constraints, such as hiring and promotion freezes, bloomberg is making all agencies cut their budgets.

Was told by instructor at BMOC that 22 lieutenants are going in next month. Hopefully this is a good sign for sgts as well. They also said that they were told that a new class of recruits will be going in Jan. 09. That's a good sign as well. They told me that if there was a new sgt class going in next month, they would find out atleast a week before hand, so that they have enough time to prepare. Will let you guys know hopefully by end of next week or week of 10/20-10/24.

there up to 178 and 178 to 199 are cleared for promotion...there is a board outside the education tracking unit that says that...i guess that means they have conducted all investigations for those people..

yes this is true...however, the job will always need to hire more cops and will always need to hire more Sergeants through what is called ATTRITION. Which basically means that they will have to replace those cops , sergeants and lieutenants that are retiring. So i wouldnt worry about the economy or any hiring freeze. The only way that a hiring freeze will hurt us is that it will be harder to get a day off because we are going to have to do more with less
