Doesn't sound like good news to me, I probably won't make it. I dont think it will cover everyone who hits five in july, i'm one of them.

It's probably going into the 100's. Not counting bmoc 3 the first two classess made it up to 217, so you figure the guys who hit five in july between 1 and whatever numbers have been passed over will go in. With my luck it will go just below the 190's, and i'll be stuck waiting until sep.

if it helps im in the 110s and theres 36 passed over b4 me, so 65 could get close to 200 if it is the same pace

THE CLASS GOING IN JULY IS SUPPOSED TO BE A BIG CLASS!

I've posted this before but it's worth repeating.
I know you guys are anxious but you're honestly better off being a cop with a little TOJ than a rookie boss in the summer. September is an ideal time to get made.
If you're on patrol you should have decent vacation picks (which you can lose), you're working the tour you want and maybe even have a gig. Unless roll call or the bosses hate you, you probably wont get many details you don't want and can bang in here and there without too much problem. Take advantage of it while you can.
Most, if not all, of you will kiss it all goodbye when you get promoted. Being a boss is absolutely worth it for me but in addition to getting used to not being a cop anymore (a huge ajustment) you have to contend with being the low man again. It's like stepping off a cliff - a different tour, crappy details, lousy picks and no one to complain to in the lounge about it anymore.
It's a bosses job but it takes a little time before it pays dividends.
What's a few months? A year from now you'll be happy it didn't come down in July.

My reason for wanting to go in july instead of september is financial. Having to send my kids to daycare is going to cost me, then my kid will lose out on a month of school, which will cost me. Plus im looking at the bigger picture, vacation picks dont mean much to me, and all those things that you mentioned are expected, why bother complaining, just o with the flow, im sure it happened to you as a cop, why waste energy on biitching about things, you wont always be the low man. What I wrote wasnt directed at you DOA, just a generality about those cops and bosses you know that complain about everything under the sun.

There are 25 names those of you waiting can put behind you. 18 are waiting for January 2009 to hit 5 years and 7 no longer work for the department. I guess thats good news!
