what questions are you guys protesting and why? Was on my way there today and my piece of Sh*t car died and I couldn't get there. Pissed. Its funny that when we couldn't talk about questions because of the sabbath and military tests thats all we did, now we can actually discuss the contents of questions without a worry and no one has. anyone have anything? I know 49,50 were the cims and I blew those, but whats up with 43,81,86. Thanks.

I SPOKE TO ONE OF THE GUYS THAT WENT TO THE PROTEST TODAY. HE IS SAYING THAT THE QUESTION REGARDING THE LOCKSMITH IN RICHMOND AND THE NUMBER 51 WERE DISCUSS. THERE IS A GOOD POSSIBILITY THAT THOSE QUESTION COULD BE THROWN OUT BECAUSE OF THE WAY THEY WERE WRITTEN. LETS HOPE IT'S TRUE. HE ALSO SAID THAT 94 AND 95 WERE SOLID ANSWERS. LETS SEE WHAT HAPPENS. GOOD LUCK TO ALL !

question 82 was the counseling unit question where you are the 1st platoon supervisor and the cop comes to you and says he is addicted to prescription drugs. DCAS picked the answer that you call the sick desk supervisor because the counseling unit is closed until 7 am, however it did not state at what time during the first platoon this cop comes to you and asks you what to do therefore i think it will be a double answer.
question 95 was the gas card question where the cop loses the gas card. The answer was to notify fuel control. I got it wrong but i protested stating that there was a finest message ending the use of RMP gas cards and green/red cards. WE DON'T USE GAS CARDS ANYMORE EXCEPT FOR RENTAL VEHICLES! Unless you're in OCCB or a non-patrol unit you probably don't know that rentals use yelow cards. I think theyre the only cars that use gas cards anymore so i think that this answer will be thrown out.
the third question i fought and i can't remember the number was the Arson of the building question. I can't remember the number of the question but two women get robbed and assaulted so they get (1) complaint. then two construction workers die and they get one complaint each totalling (3) so far, then you have the two security guards who get one each totalling (5). DCAS said the answer was five but where is the complaint for the building owner? None of the persons in the story were identified as the owner of the building, as a matter of fact they were all identified as other than the owners of the building so doesn't the owner of property that is burned receive a complaint? How can you make an insurance claim as the owner of the building? Are you supposed to use one of the security guards for your insurance claim? Technically the security guards are victims of assault by fire, not arson. They were injured during the arson so they get a seperate complaint but that should have been after the initial complaint was made for arson for the owner of the building.
I have the numbers of the questions written down but i left them at work. I will try to post some more tomorrow. In total I protested 8 questions, i think so far one will definetely be thrown out and there will be at least 3 double answers. Does anyone have an idea of how many people actually passed? Good luck to you all.

delro, good stuff bro. I thought that the counseling services question stated that the guy went to the sgt after the midnight roll call, therefore the boss would make an immediate notification to the sick dest supervisor. If this guy is an addict and needs help, why wait til 7am? I could be wrong, it sounds like you went to the review so I probably am. thanks.

Gonzo66 said

waitingfornassau, in regards to the counseling question, in pg it states that the Sgt "MAY" notify Sick desk sup. if counseling unit is closed. counseling unit is open m-f 0700-1800hrs, therefore the sgt had two choices. In addition, the body of the question did not stated what day of the week it was, it only stated that the whole conversation took place at 1 am , during 1st Pltn........

for anyone that got wrong question #26 (that was the 511 question) that should be double answer so if u put choice (a) refer to p.g. 208-53 it states that if a summons is issued before a person is arrested for 511 to put the vtl charge on the online and void the summons which was choice (a)

Protest Guy, incorrect. In Brooklyn (which was written in the question), a summons is thrown in the arrest paperwork according to 208-53.

Unborn--the problem with Question #26 is that it told you the cop started to write the motorist a red light summons which would be the new New York State moving violations summons---this summons would have to be voided since the red light would be added to the online, then you would prepare the New York City criminal court summons for the package. The patrol guide I believe has not added the NYS summons, so I guess they want you to pretend that you are writing the old summons and then include it in the package. The question if I remember asked you what you do with the universal summons, probably referring to the old B/C summons, but where in the patrol guide does it ever say universal summons ---its worth a fight but I doubt they will throw it out.

sorry about that, the arson question was 78.
82, (counseling question) I went to the review and could swear that it didn't say the conversation took place at 1am because i would have never protested it.
I didn't protest 26 (the 511 question), which i chose A for, q because i remembered that the book said keep the summons and add it to the online package, but if what you're saying is true then i have another one coming my way.
The gas card was 95, no matter what way they changed the rule i think enough people complained about that one where they will definetely throw it out. I mean, we don't even use the gas cards anymore so the question is obsolete.
84 was the DAT question, which i chose the DWI guy in the hospital for 24 hours which is wrong, its MORE than 24 hrs which i felt was a bull**** tricky move by DCAS. They wonder why they can't get SGTS.
76 was the voucher receipt. DCAS said to have the perp sign the voucher i fought this as well, i picked give the pink copy
Again, i can't remember the number of the question, but i protested the 13 yr old juvenile who commits arson 2. The question said that the kid was arrested on the first platoon and his father comes in demanding that the kid be released to him. DCAS said that the answer was confer with the youth officer and release him. I picked remand him which was wrong. I'm fighting it because again they play games with the first platoon and don't tell you when the kid was collared. Arson 2 is a designated felony but it says that for this charge you only remand the kid of fam. court is open. If for instance the kid was collared at 0730 then you might process until family court opens up. Therefore my answer would have been right.
I have problems with any questions that deal with numbered steps in a procedure and here's why. DCAS always plays with words. Why not ask what is the first step the sgt. should take, or what is the very next thing the sgt. should do. Instead they say, what would be the most correct step to take next. I thought something was either correct or incorrect. You never see them ask; pick the most incorrect answer, because you can't, they're all wrong! Problem is, if all the answers are numbered steps in the procedure than to me these are opinion questions unless we're all robots. We all know that a sitiuation dictates what steps we take, so to say that a procedure is followed exactly by the numbered steps is wrong. If they want to know what step is listed first THEN JUST ASK IT!!!!!!!!GOOD LUCK ALL

delro what was the answer to the DAT question if the DWI was not the right answer? I remember sitting there saying it has to be more than 24 hours but the other ones were wrong as well. You cant give someone a DAT for unlawful eviction or abuse against a child or if they are engander to themselves which was the other answer. Which answer did DCAS say was the right one?

Mar 1, 2008
I'm with you. The other choices were incorrect so I picked DWI (choice B) knowing that it had to be more than 24 hours but the other choices Unlawful eviction, endagering a child, and a danger to himself were wrong. Not sure what answer was letter C.

i can't remember exactly what the crime was but it was a misdemeanor sex act against a non family member/spouse etc., where the victim didn't know the perp. I couldn't believe it myself, so i protested that one just because i was pissed. I don't think they'll give a double answer but i let them know that i think their play on words and trickery is petty. I told them why not give an answer like just under 24 hours or just over 24 hours instead they put it right at 24 hours. I think the procedure wording itself is ridiculous. I told them "so at 24 hours and 1 second i guess somebody is more sober than right at 24 hours!"
irishprincess14 said

i definately want to protest that one because that answer wasnt it against a 14year old or something? something sexual against a child? and it states in 208.27 no DAT will be issued to someone if an offense would consitute child abuse.

I have to disagree on the DAT question. If the IrishPrincess is referring to 208-27 SUB 2 NOTE K. It states that no DAT will be issued for an offense which would constitute child abuse, neglect or maltreatment and tells you to refer to 215-03 and 208-36. I believe that the perp in the question was charged with sex abuse against a 14yr old whom he did not know. In order for an offense to constitute child abuse, neglect or maltreatment,(which would fall under NOTE K) the perp must be a parent or person legally responsible for the childs care. Therefore this perp, although he did commit a terrible crime, according to the PG, he can be issued a DAT. So I don't believe that there is much of an arguement on this question. Sorry to shoot your idea down, but sometimes I feel the need to protest protests that I got right.

I still feel that the gas card, counseling unit, the juvenile who commited the desgnated felony and the arson question i argued below are pretty good, The gas card will probably be thrown out, the counseling unit and juvenile are "time" questions not word or phrase type questions, and the arson unit i feel the test makers made a blatant mistake by not including the building owner as one of the complaints. good luck all.

It was very difficult to review the test and follow the protest procedure, but I did my best.
The question numbers I protested were: 30, 46, 53, 64, 70, and 99.
I really dont recall which question # went with which question:
- the EDP in the burnt out car.
- the elderly missing female.
- the off-duty employment.
- the bereavement leave.
- the dereliction of duty.
- the election delay due to demonstration.
That is all the ones I could get in with the absurd paperwork you have to submit.I heard others protesting questions like:
- the sodomy charge
- the in basket questions referring to the handout
- the Universal summons on the Agg. Unlic. Op.
Honestly after reviewing the test with the Patrol Guide, the questions were straight up.Very tricky though, they would make sure one or two words were inserted in the body of the question that would make it tough to protest. And the ultimate kicker is that almost everyone question ended with: CHOOSE THE MOST CORRECT ANSWER.Meaning that even though the choice was not clear-cut, you have to choose which one of the 4 options is the best possible answer.
Any questions, please feel free to ask.
Good luck to all.
