Im sorry that you are not informed on how a contract works. The union calls an emergency meeting for the delegates to vote on the contract, then it is given to the membership to vote. Happens every contract. So Im not pretending, looks like you dont know what you are talking about.

Theres big issues here. The board is super vulnerable because I dont think theyve ever gotten this much pushback or anger (that anger is usually reserved for the pba). They dignified rising star and sent out an email. If I were them Id be a little concerned. I spoke with one of the useless board members last week and according to him they did not have a meeting with the city planned. I firmly believe we may be in this for a while. The city has no reason to fret over 4000 people. This board did an awful job with everything. They lost all credibility and legitimacy when they allowed the Mullins snafu and remained on the board. People really need to consider challenging them. I retract my previous statement, we need hungry people that arent dinosaurs.
Read the bylaws folks. Start attending meetings. Its a dirty game but all can play.

I had the displeasure of recently speaking to a board member from the SBA. He informed me that "we" don't want the modern chart. That's interesting because no one asked us. He's speaking for all of us without asking anyone of us. I honestly believe that's what the hold up is. The city wants us taking this chart and the SBA is trying to get some type of stipend or differential in pay otherwise they won't take the tours. They're so out of touch they don't know what the members want. They all need to go. I'll see you guys at the meeting on Thursday. Let's make our presence known.

I agree it seems inevitable that they must take the tours. But I highly doubt they'd go that route with it. It doesn't benefit the dinosaurs on the board. They rather take an extra $1,000 differential to pad their pockets and pension instead of helping the majority of the union members. Just another reason they must go.

If in fact the union is trying to get some sort of compensation for these 12hr tours, they should be utilizing the 12hr tours as bargain to adjust all current members to top pay. The fact of the matter is the longer we continue to wait, the more top pay rookie Sgts will continue to make it to top pay while everyone with 4yrs below in rank continue to lose out.

I dont feel like the SBA is really trying to fix the Pay Disparity issue seems more like they want to fight the 12 hour tours for something else other than fixing the pay disparity just seems more and more that they are stalling until December like I have been saying If at this next meeting they give the usual BS update then as Union members we need to read the Bilaws and see how exactly to call some sort of Emergency Meeting or vote on our behalf Because if they do this this month and Then in November they will not be fixing the pay disparity affecting almost half the Rank they will march into December with their tail between their legs and screw most of us over with some BS contract.
The Union kept saying over and over again that they care about us and our families and we would never make less than cops Vinnys exact words
My SGT will never make less than a cop well thats BS because here we are guess what most of us are making less than cops at the moment.

Every union is like this. Why can't we just have 1 police union and a vice president representing each rank. President should be a retired MOS that city hall can't mess with. More $ into 1 pot for dental, prescription and optical leads to better benefits.
The city divides each union up at places them against each other. There would be no pay disparity like we see now with sgts promoted a month apart seeing different pay scales.
Unfortunately nothing will change bc everyone wants to keep their gig. I was a delegate in 2 unions and saw the ridiculousness. The dinosaurs are still running the show in all unions.

maybe discipline wasnt the best example, but in situations like short notifications, tour changes past the 20 something etc. Sometimes higher ups want to apply rules that are convenient to them. if one big union represents you and the higher up, do you feel comfortable in the union backing you up and not the higher up?

Ive always said the PBA/SBA and LBA should be one union. Youd have to separate the executives. It would eliminate this rush to settle contracts first and would avoid the situation were in now. Lets just say the LBA signs their new contract and Vinny pulls a plum out of his ass (highly doubtful) the LTs would have to go back to the table and renegotiate. Its a broken system but then again its par for the course with the Nypd and the city of New York. This whole pay disparity thing is getting old though, and I agree the longer it goes on the more were going to get bent over. Every month another bmoc hits top pay for the most part as well as rookie SGTs going to top pay. Well be the minority soon and have to eat a shit contract. As it stands right now a family member on the job who is a PO is on pace to make 30k more than me this year! Vinny has to go!

I cant upload the link here, but its making the rounds. If you are a sergeant, you will have it by the end of the day. We have no contract, still the same excuses from Vallelong. Vallelong specifically said if you have any questions to ask your director or call the SBA office. Call and make your voice heard! This is ridiculous. We still have no information on getting retro money for those that are stuck at 97k. If we dont have this contract signed in the next week or two, its time to take this off of rising star into an official instagram page where we can give daily updates and reach out to more sergeants.
CALL THE SBA, CALL YOUR DIRECTOR! Make your voice heard!! The ones stuck at 97k right now are the majority in the union, dont let them screw us!!

Their way of stalling is prolonging this pay disparity issue so the newly promoted sgts continue to go to top pay. There is zero resolution for anyone in rank making less than top pay. In sum and substance nothing is being done for us who have been promoted from 2017 exam and aren't at top pay yet.

Make sure you call the union. Dont bother anywhere else. Eds filler made it clear that his concern is the first two classes from this last test that didnt go right to top pay. Not the people from the 2017 test. Since the Sba board monitors this site in between steak dinners, fraternal events and meetings with the goombs this impacts about 2000 sergeants. This isnt a concern for 2 classes who shot up to 105, but for the morons who were promoted from the 2017 exam still making 96/97.
Please think for a second if you as a sgt were surveyed or asked about doing 10-12 hour tours.
Ill never get this mentality of more appearances. Lets be real, do we think the city is going to offer real schekles while every other union took it for free ?

The longevity impacted every other union. The Pba settled with the city on April 5th. That was 204 days ago. The Sba has had seven months to address this. Please do not try to defend them. For some context:
7 months ago- the Mets were still in playoff contention, we all thought exploring the seas via submarine was a safe method of exploration and we were paid more than cops!

I unfortunately scored higher on the exam and waited to go through all the steps and no retro, kind of like this scenario and it was rumored the delegates that went to the BMOC to speak to the new guys told them not to mention it because it would create an uproar for the ones that got promoted before them. I was actually glad for the ones that got that since I actually worked with a few of them. No use on being bitter because luck was on their side. The one thing that I couldnt comprehend was why the union advocates for some and not others and expects the ones that get screwed to just say oh well.

I typed up a letter I recommend everyone send to the SBA President and VP at vvallelong@sbanyc.org and esmall@sbanyc.org Obviously I would appreciate if anyone has any input on changes. But I think everyone should reach out with some type of email making their voices heard in a professional manner.
We have heard the leaked audio from the SBA meeting held this week. We are sure it is frustrating to be recorded and we understand that such recordings are one of the many reasons why the SBA cannot share certain specifics during negotiations.
However, we keep hearing 12 hour tours being a major element holding up negotiations for the SBA, and we feel the pay disparity and compression issue is coming in second.
Imagine for a second that you are back on Patrol responding to job after job and your officers are looking to you to make difficult decisions and those decisions can have dire consequences for your career or freedom should things go bad. Now imagine you are doing this for 12 hours straight without a meal. It sounds horrible right, just like you mentioned at the meeting. Now imagine you are in the same scenario but add in that you were promoted in November 2022 and are making $96k base, the officers you supervise make $105 base, and the next Sergeant coming in to relieve you got promoted last month and is making $118k base.
It is our opinion that the pay disparity and lower pay steps are more of a priority than the 10 or 12 hour tours. Because going to the new tours is not without benefit, there would be less appearances. I know the city believes making $1 more than a cop is acceptable. However, we would rather go to PERB than accept anything less than $118k effective 8/1/2023 with retro and appropriate salary adjustments above the PBA for the out of contract periods prior to 8/1/2023.
Thank you

Fraternally and fired up,
The Uncle
Im sorry to say it does not sound like any of you were there! the contract and reason the SBA has not agreed were all mentioned along with the reason why the SBA believes they a good reason also he offered for any of you to come to his office and see if any can do a better job! So instead of wasting time with the bs lets stick together and hope for the best i like all of you are not happy but this is what the city wants. if you want facts about today ask your delegate or bureau director cause the above previous post are inaccurate. But then again this is a Lt forum. Take care fellas!
I have the audio from the meeting. Everything I stated came directly from Vallelongs mouth word for word.

Ok guy so tell us then what exactly was said about fixing the Pay Disparity for the 2000 plus SGT making less than cops now? Because I guarantee you they dont seem to give a F**K about those of us in that position so why dont you tell me right now that the plan isnt to stall until December like Ive been saying to argue away this problem with the same Bull***t % pattern everyone else got And say problem solved. Its lazy and its exactly what these guys are gonna do smart guy just wait and see. Just be happy knowing a LT list is coming because apparently thats the only way to make more than a Cop with 5-1/2 years on now lol you have to Get promoted twice And out of this Garbage union, with True Believers like you
Take Care Fella
Exactly. However you want to call it..

thats how the cookie crumbles
I typed up a letter I recommend everyone send to the SBA President and VP at vvallelong@sbanyc.org and esmall@sbanyc.org
Obviously I would appreciate if anyone has any input on changes.
Thank you
