So was the letter only to ppl who might have gotten veteran points?
no everyone should receive a letter pass or fail. that letter will give you your final score. I was looking for mine but I cannot find it. Then again maybe this time around it might just be an official email.
Yeah I think its going to be different for this exam. Definitely will be email since the DCAS website says starting 3/1/23 theyll be emailing us regarding exams. No more mail.
where on the dcas website do u guys go to see these things. I always have trouble navigating through that website.

Thats not how a curve works FYI. The amount added is determined by the amount you got wrong. For the 2017 exam, you received 0.231 points back for every question you got wrong, after throwouts/double answers.
While someone with a 57 might get 13 points, the same wont apply to someone with a 75 raw.
Although anything is possible with DCAS, so take that with a grain of salt.
Sounds like the first logical thing Ive seen about the curve.. I knew people with low 60s that ended up on the list.. first Time hearing someone get a 57 would love to know who that future chief is
raw score 87 on 2017 Sgt exam
did jst and run for 4 years. Brought me to 89
my final score was 91 and change ..

Same here. At the protest i had a 67. When I got my slip in the mail it said 76 and then with medals and longevity I had an 80. No official explanation was ever given. we had to figure out the curve on our own

Yea I doubt it. For the captain exam they only showed the adjusted score after a throw out or 2. But not for the curve. It was all a surprise when the list came out.

Did anyone actually see that email in person/know a military guy who received it? Also, doesnt that email only apply to those who passed (with or without a curve)?
My point is, say a military guy got a 65 raw score, but is getting the email, doesnt that imply that he did pass now? Because i thought you can only use those points if you passed with a curve/throwouts. I do not know how military points work.
Papi825 said
Mar 6, 2023
Exactly bro, you can only get that if you passed. So if people in the 60s are getting those emails, that means they got to the passing score. Whether it was from throw outs or curve, were not sure. I personally dont know anyone whos received the email. Someone did post it on here tho.
PiratesR_Us said
Mar 6, 2023
In person? No. Online, yes. Guys are saying they know people who get very low scores who also got the email as well. So were guessing people are getting the email whether theyll be on the list or not. I wouldnt go by that.
Papi825 said

If someone received an email, they are on the list. You cant get the legacy/military points without being on the list. The question is if these guys with such low scores are actually getting these emails. Unless you know someone personally, we are choosing to believe people online. Dont know why multiple people would lie about that, but there are some weirdos online lol.

I think the confusion is that with the Captains exam, ppl received their letter after throwouts/double answers were applied. the curve was applied after the fact.
In the current situation, ppl in the 50s (more than likely trolling) are claiming they received the letter, which means that either there was a ton of throwouts or they applied the curve first this time and then sent letters.

Na, 83 raw. But with the curve and my 2.5 points of seniority and JST/run, I can end up 89 and a half around there. In the previous exam and 89 and change was somewhere in the mid to high 300s. If there was no curve Im very confident I wouldve been there lol. But lets see what happens with a list of 4K lol

regardless of the 11k base pay bump to top pay sgt... get ready for about 10 hours to maybe 20 a month in OT if you're lucky....
idk where you're a gold shield, but if you're used to making 40-60 (or more!) a month in DB or a unit - get ready for a rude awakening... going to have to stay an extra few years to pad your pension.

I see no reason to try and put a negative spin on something this guy obviously wants since he took and passed the exam, seeing as how hes got 17 years on the job and at least 5 as a detective Im pretty sure he knows and knew what he has, what hell have and what he may be trading in to become a boss, but he said its something he wants to accomplish. No reason to rain on it and tell him negative things about it. Im sure hes aware and has thought it through since we are 7 months post exam. How about letting him choose his move for his career and leaving it at that. Congrats to you brother, hope you get promoted as soon as possible and are happy with the move.
