Direct from the NYC Mayors Office of Management and Budget. On their website theres a PDF titled Citywide Savings Program which details the cuts for every city agency. According to that office direct, weve already hit the reduction numbers. Police Department has reduced by 1404(1171 uniformed and 233 civilian). Point being, it doesnt seem that there will be reductions throughout the ranks affecting vacancies.
Any updates on the new numbers after all these fresh retirements?

I often dont go into long term stuff Bc every week things can change. In fact Im posting this Bc Im very confident of where the info is coming from. I believe dept headcount is around 33,500. Apparently there is no known target number at this point atleast from what I can obtain at this point. Heard 32k previously. Vacancies numbers mean nothing. Its useless info at this point. Im told ZERO promotions and ZERO hiring will be occurring till July 2021 at a minimum. I will advise you this is not locker room chatter and comes from a place outside dept w knowledge of budget constraints. I hope this proves to be very wrong but Id figure some would rather know of the extreme possibilities in case they want to plan a different strategy for their career

I dont doubt it. The city is praying for a bailout, hopefully, if we get one, well be fixed. Also hearing that an ERI (buyout) is a real possibility now.

Im hearing its on the table. It would be similar to a military buyback except you cant just stick around after you accept it (ie stay till you have 22 on and retire as if you did 25) You would have to leave at the agreed upon time.
thanks for the info truthseeker, was the meeting in regards to headcount or promotions specifically? the article seems like some are cautiously optimistic about an academy class for october

So, theoretically, if this class does go in, are we looking at a big bmoc, smaller bmoc?

Its not a done deal. Just a small hope. More cops more need for promo. Even w a class doesnt mean promotions. But just increases odds of it.

If you are still in an undefined state, then don't even think about it and contact these services on the site https://resumewritinglab.com/. After I was fired, I had great difficulties finding a job, and only thanks to a professionally written resume, everything turned out as well as possible.

I think its been solidified that vacancy numbers dont mean anything anymore. If it did, theyd try to fill it asap. Department will just do more with less.

The City council doesnt care about vacancies. They would rather us be defunded then actually filling spots. Vacancies dont mean anything anymore.

Yeah those vacancies are based off of 35000+ cops, they want to reduce it, so vacancies dont mean anything. They will just keep telling us to do more with less.
Copper said

Vacancies are not based on 35k cops. These Vacancies are current after reducing city council proposed decrease in headcount. Plus, the department requesting to promote every month but they are not getting approved. We might see summer promotions if the department will get approval.

I believe Thursday will provide further information as it is rumored to be when Sgts will receive information regarding there potential retro amount. If thats true it will likely provide a timeframe of when the money will arrive and I personally feel thats when a line will form at the Emergency exit doors.
