Heard the same thing as you @Taketheday. Like I said yesterday I think we are in for a nice surprise real soon. The world is not falling, we are all getting made on this list
Yea i agree @nicholasjames65 I just think it will take longer if there is a class in April for around 150-160 that would leave around 300 people left with 7 months left so they will finish even if they don't start promoting until September again they will finish just sucks for anyone on the bottom but I think it will work out
If all is true with a April class, they still have time to put in a May class before the summer starts.
I really don't see that happening it seems like back to back classes just aren't getting done so I figure its either gonna be every other month or if the rumors are true this class in April and then none till September and they will prolly do a September and a December holiday promo to finish the list. If I had to guest but I could be wrong who knows what they will do anymore
Could hold true but is the dept in a position to continue paying supervisors OT and constant doubles/triples. A 4-6 months pause with the current vacancies and continued attrition will continue to just exhaust the current supervisors which will probably continue the surge in retirements. But hey wtf do I know.
My command alone just lost about 5 sgts this month with retirements, people leaving to units. but at this point it is what it is.

This is probably why things happened the way that they did this month.
The new flavor of the quarter is being off post on transit. 20 day hit and a transfer.
Yea jus got this from a guy in my squad lol thought that pic was a joke about the 20 day hit guess its for real. I think your right @futureauxiliary this is probably why promos are being held up he wants boots on the ground. Idk if anyone can confirm if a July class of recruits is graduating? if so that may help jump start more promos.

Sooner or later they will need more supervision. More recruits graduating and less sgts is a recipe for disaster. Our time is coming!

Good luck getting these new rookies to produce like the Impact days. New wave of cops are all about going home on time and zero involvement in anything on this job, let alone a collar or summons.

As far as getting passed over, it depends on what it was and when you get cleared.

I can confirm the same I heard this yesterday and didn't want to post until I could confirm it. My source said they submitted the list of 160 to PC and she only approved for way less I was told less than 40 I dont know what the reasons were but I guess its even smaller now. Personally to me thats their way of forcing us to cancel the promos by agreeing on a insanely small number, until they are ready to start pumping out classes, This is all def coming from Adams which to me means its very possible that he will make sure there are no promos till September or force as many small classes as possible until then. Sucks for everyone hopefully something changes

There is a recruit class that went in on October and graduate in April 2022. Another recruit class that went in on Dec 2021 and graduates June 2022. Between both classes there are about 1000-1100 recruits that will be out in the next 3 months. Can it be a possibility that they are waiting for these classes to hit the streets ?

I think that could be a reason for why they are delaying Promos they may want to wait till after All-Out starts and these recruits get sent to Commands before they promote the remaining 450 cops on the list.

Transit and housing are probably full but patrol is not. In my bx patrol pct I have to doubles and patrol coverages almost every week. The Dept has some hidden positions for Sgts outside patrol in each pct. Thats why on paper the pct looks good but in reality they are not.

Look at the end of the day I think everyone just needs to wait it out I know it sucks and it seems like promos are taking longer because of this Regime change but at the end of the day they need bosses regardless if they want to ignore vacancies or not there are still over 300 and by end of Summer Im sure it will be well over 400-450 after All Out starts and after July retirements come it will only help us I think even if they put in 5-6 more classed before the year is over everyone should be made because if not the City knows they will face a lot of Covid lawsuits and nobody wants that so I think it will work out eventually so just stay optimistic and if You signed up for the SGT exam jus keep studying and it will eventually happen.

From my understanding, the Mayor's office is not happy with the manner in which the Dept is civilianizing the roles. They want to push more admin cops and supervisors back out on the patrol housing and transit commands and not so much doing admin work. However, what the mayor's office fails to realize is just how much administrative work is required of by this department, from places like the federal monitor, from Albany, from DCJS, from Calea, from FBI, from HIDDTA, from the City, and most importantly, from executives who continue to make up forms, recaps and reports for those below Captain rank to deal with on a daily basis. The pipe dream is if they want more people out, they need to streamline this stuff.
In other departments and jurisdictions, when arrests are made, the patrol officer brings the body direct from scene to the central booking facility where a dedicated arrest processing team will take all the information, BWC footage, contact the CV's and draw up the complaint within an hour or two max. The arrest team is back to post within an hour. Commands literally spends hours prepping binders for all the various stat meetings that may or may not happen on a weekly basis. Complete waste of resources, paper, and time for the cops/sgts who have to prepare it all, and waste for the Lt's and Cap's who have to read all that shit.
Could more roles be civilianized, sure, theres plenty of people being taken care of and that can certainly be trimmed way down, but the "work" doesnt' just disappear and my point is executives need to do some damn work for once and work at getting rid of that nonsense shit.
