I don't get it, what if ur answer key went from left to right? Or top to bottom?
to which answer key this potential key applies?

The answers are still the same. They do that so if you're sitting next to someone and your key goes left to right but their keys goes top to bottom you can't copy their answers.

That's right. I got that one wrong, looked it up after. Picked a different one from everyone else, but still got it wrong. Funny, according to this key not one person picked the correct answer.

On my Sgt's exam this answer key was only off by a point. On the other hand I personally know 5 cops that had between 65 and 69 and all 5 ended up getting final scores in the mid 70's once the official answer key was released. My advice to those on the fringe of 70 is to be patient and have faith. Good luck !!!

Common Questions
1. Will there be more updates?
A. I will post another update sometime this evening. I received another 15 or so and will enter them in a bit later. If I continue to get more sheets, I will continue to make updates during the week. Eventually, they will stop really changing the numbers as everything will start to settle and be consistent.
2. What do the "possible doubles" mean?
A. Whenever two or more answers are very close (in this case about 3), the program will treat it as a double. This means that, if you have one, half the time you will get it, the other half you won't. Your potential score already factors this in.
3. How accurate is this?
A. Historically, the answer key itself is about 90-95% accurate. This means that when the final key is released (before changes), I'll have somewhere between 5 and 10 different from what is published. Since this will affect your wrong answers as much as your correct ones, it doesn't really change your potential score. The potential score itself is usually +/- 3 or 4 points, most of the time within 1 or 2.
4. How many keys do you need or usually get?
A. It depends on the test. Sergeants tests will get around 100 keys. Lieutenants are around 50 or so, and Captains are more like 25 to 30. The sample I get (from this site) already skews my numbers towards being correct since most people that submit their answers do in fact study. As such, despite only sampling around 3% of the test takers, I'm getting around 20% of the bigger studiers, which is more than sufficient to make an accurate key.
5. How do I figure this out?
A. Plug in your answers in the sheet and look at your potential score on the right. It's pretty much that simple. The program does all of the calculations and makes most of the assumptions to arrive at that number. The potential score is out of 100, just like it should be. Don't get worked up about the research questions. It already factors those in. If your potential score is 70 or above, you're in good shape.
6. What if I can't make this work?
A. If you are having issues opening or using the file (if you are running Mac OS for example), upload the file to Google Docs and use that instead. The other alternative is find someone here that will run your answers for you and tell you how you did.

Am I the only one that feels like 40 mins is not enough time for 20 extra ?s... The inbasket was 23 ?s and it took me 3 hrs to get thru it... Many of my friends did not even finsh the exam... Anyway the unions can get involved in this new way dcas is giving these exams? It becomes luck over knowledge which I think is bs... Someone next to you who did not study has the same chance with guessing as you do with these exams....

After entering into the spreadsheet, my pontential score was 70. Is that factoring in research questions... As in i may have a 70-78 or is 70 highest bet?

The classes "the key" specifically did mention a lot of the procedures that were asked. With that said the classes are outdated for how they are making the tests now. With out giving to much away the questions asked in the classes are to east in the fact each question holds you into one procedure where as its not the case anymore. Along with the other changes that I don't want want to say because people still need to take it. I agree with being competitive but damn.

I got a potential of 65. The equation is simply just the total (120) divided by how many "correct" u got. Not counting the "maybes", and obviously the throw outs/double answers/research. Basically there is noway of knowing where you really stand until the research questions r taken out of the equation.

wow... 63... i guess thats better then the 30 or 40 i was expecting to get ... what a joke. i took the sgts exam in 4 hrs , passed with an 79 without reading the patrol guide - just studied notes and handouts and questions (not great, but not bad either) For THIS test, i decided to really put my all into it...i read the ENTIRE guide twice, the handouts, took the 20 week course, the 5 week review, and the cram classes. i broke my a** reading this material and thought i was ready. i thought i was good to go. And then i showed up yesterday in manhattan and got wacked in the head with that piece of s*** test.... barely finished in time and probably dropped 5 lbs sweating thru it.....the job is missing out on promoting some really good people who should be the next leaders of this department. but thats not happening... what were they/dcas/whoever trying to accomplish with an exam like this?? i feel like im a fairly intelligent person, college educated, etc...but i felt like a total retard walking out of that site... who the hell passed this test? i cant wait to see who ill be working for.......i have no intentions of going through this s*** again anytime soon, or ever... good luck and congrats to those of you guys who pulled it off.
