You are not dying on the list with a 77 ! With seniority points , double answers and throw outs you will prob end up with a final score of at least 80 . They are not going to kill the list I believe everyone who passes will get made .

Rumor has it as it stands now the city is over 800 sergeants short . I think that if alot of people passed this test , they just wont give one for another 3 years and that all will be made . They used to have monthly sergeant classes of 100 people. why not again?

I'm sure significantly more people passed this test than last. This test was fairer. Those of you who went to the Key, Fast Track, etc.. know that class attendance was like a bell curve. Standing room only the first few weeks, toward the middle there were barely enough cops to have a midnight roll call, and toward the end people realized "oh ****" and started studying again. Sorry, if that's your method, you aren't gonna pass. If there were more than 600 passes as the above poster said I would be surprised.
Those who failed, keep your books open, there will probably be another test within 2 years, if not next January 2009. Congrats to those who passed and don't forget where you came from. :)

6200 signed up for this exam. I will be generous and say 5000 took it.
If 10% pass it then thats 500 sgts.
For all you saying 1000 people passed it... do you honestly think 1 out of 5 people passed this exam?

i think so.this test was easier then any of the pratice police academy exams on the internet.plus the inbasket was a friggin joke.last test i study hard and got a 69.this time i didnt study as hard n got 13 more questions right.i really feel there is a TON of cops that passed in the low 70s.there r ppl i know that barely cracked open the pg n passed.now if this is a pattern throughout every pct u better believe more than 1,000 passed.but this is just my opinion n i could b wrong...but i dont think i am though.

This list will be out by anytime after October-ish of this year to allow the 3 year wonders to reach 5 years as PO to get promoted from the February 2007 exam. With about 340 that passed that last exam, I will not be surprised if this exam is going to be moving through quickly. Also, I can most certainly say that at least 800 passed this exam. One reason being that there is more motivation for the top salary which is going to be well over 100,000 by the time anyone from this exam gets to top pay AND by that time, a newer contract will be negotiated since the current one expires in 2011. So that means those who passed this exam will not have reached top salary before a newer and ever better contract is negotiated. Think about it. Cha-ching. Second reason being is that there is a lot more frustrated cops more motivated to study because of the lack of proper leadership and they cops, such as myself, DO NOT want a poor sergeant, younger than themselves from a light precinct tenure, barking orders at me. With that, I can feel confident that there will a much higher percentage of passers on this exam. But, I do hope I am mistaken because I don't want a long list to wait to get promoted.
Bless everyone who did and did not pass.
Good luck to all.........

The "FAST-TRACK" is Definitely the way to go!!!!!!! Their Patrol Guide simplified the whole "DIGESTING" process of reading such a vaguely written book like the PG,...Thanks Mike, Al, Phil & Steve for ALL of your HARD WORK,......Arty Storch from the KSA Sgt. Course,.....He's on POINT!!!!!! His questions were desingned to get you acustomed to the real EXAM!!!!!,...And he also "THOROUGHLY" explained, simplified and broke down each section accordingly,.....Not like "The Key" in where they just read the Guide to ya!!!!!!!! Lastly, the NYPD Police's Academy Free Sgt. Course that was offered through the Intranet, Internet & Live!!!!!!!!! They were on POINT!!!!!! Although they didn't explain the answer like the other schools, their questions by FAR were more similas to the EXAM over the others.......Here's my list as to which school had the MOST similarity to the DCAS Sgt. Exam Questions: 1. NYPD PA Free Sgt.'s Course 2. KSA 3. Rising Star Promotion 4. The Key 5. The Fast Track

But ofcourse you HAVE TO READ THE PG ON YOUR OWN!!!!!!!!! Classes are ONLY a DESIGNED method of studying!!!!! ONLY A METHOD OF STUDYING!!!!!!,....Let's break it down for one minute,....All these PROMOTIONAL SCHOOLS do for you is PROVIDE A SYSTEM in where you are to participate and study,...wether is the Fast-Track's five diamond system or The Key's System,.....they introduce it to you on day one along with their motivational speeches, jokes & war stories. Next, they designed a method that have worked for them and pass it on to you!,.....wether its doing a section a week like The Key or two different sections a week like The Fast-Track, you really have to read the PG on your own and then everything will fall in its place!!!!!

Any one want to help me out???? Got a 69 on the test and I didnt send in that damn form to protest questions...I have one imparticular that I want to protest....Its a stretch, but properly protested I think you can get it thrown out...It was the off duty employment question....Said which one of these jobs could the cop do and there was street vender in yonkers(correct choice) and there was locksmith in richmond county(the choice I picked) You can be a locksmith outside of NYC...And the long island jackass that i am didnt know that Richmond county was Staten Island...Now that answer didnt say Richmond county New York, and as far as I am aware you are aloud to have off duty employment in another state....There are 5 other Richmond Counties which would technically be outside NYC if you were to be a locksmith there....So if anyone can give that a shot if you are able to protest id appreciate it....

first off i would like to know what command that was where supposedly 12 people passed. this exam was only easier for people who actually studied. in my command only 2 people passed so far- same as last test. And for all those people who claim they did not study and passed - THEY ARE LYING!!!! For some reason people think it proves their intelligence if they say they dont study and get a 70. Shame on them for not applying themselves and studying when there is so much money on the line. I believe that you can pass the in basket without studying, but not the rest of the exam. The patrol guide is not common sense - you have to read it. cuz most of it is not logical at all.
SO anyway i say all this to say that i dont think they gave this test away. i dont think that there are going to be so many more on this list. SO RELAX. Congratulations -- you wasted 6 months of your life and it payed off!!!
