i got promoted to sgt back in 2016, did well enough on the test to get promoted near the top ish of the list, shortly after the PBA settled their contract, every sgt after me went immediately to step 3. It felt like i was being punished for doing well on the test watching everyone below me go to step 3, while i was left to go through the steps. The newly promoted Sgts were told they would do 1 year at step 3 and then go to top pay. That never happened and some 3 years later these sgts who got stuck at step 3 sued and won retro, the entire time i was bringing up to my union leadership how we got fucked for doing better on the test getting stuck on step 1 instead of moving everyone below up to step 3. I was repeatedly told it would work itself out i got 0 retro because i wasnt stuck at step 3 and made less than my peers for over 3 years. this is nothing new for the SBA, same donut different sprinkles.

Thats what my SBA Deligate told me as well. He said they had a dinner at 1 pp for doing such a great job for the union, they were told all sorts of secrets. Only matter of time we get to know them.

City is offering SBA 12 hour tours for 3% extra, 5 chart days & changes to longevity
SBA wants a minimum of 10% & 15 chart days
City will move all sgts *from*- 2017 list to top pay starting 2022
Starting salary will be 117k with additional one year added to top pay
City wants to avoid retro and want to implement the 12 hour tours
City wants 12 hours tour to make up for lack of man power

Minimum 10%, thats absurd. The board is trying to pad their pockets.
Take the 3% for the tours, take all Sgts from 2017 list to top pay (hopefully with retro), and REJECT extra steps.
That would seem fair to me.

This is only a 12 month program which city will reevaluate at that point
-3% additional pay once reached top pay for 10 hour tours
- 10 chart day with 5 week vacation
- sgt promoted prior to Dec 8th 2021 will be moved to top pay. Any sgt promoted after will remain at their steps
- new sgt moved to top pay will remain top pay
Starting salary seem like the last hurdle due to cop getting another raise next year.

My guess is we would be moved over to the new step. So anyone promoted after Dec 2021 would be moved over to the same step within the new contract. If detectives are making 113 at top pay then Im assuming step 1 would be around 115k.
