They are in the mail my friend got his yesterday. Rumors and ideas are out and my opinion is this list will go the full 4 years and end there. What number really depends on retirements and hiring but I think my opinion list will get close to the end. My guess 2300 or 75 grade wise. A large amount are predicted to leave over the course of the next 14 months due to last contract increase being in March.

I would love to believe you but we went the same day. I sat 3 seats over from him in Manhattan. He got a 65. He didn't lie i was there. Not trying to turn this into a back and forth. You have your beliefs about the curve. Maybe you are right maybe wrong but if you are right the passing grade was not 60.
I really believe that we had a lot of throw outs. Anywhere between 7 and 12 total. What sucks is if you get a question right that ultimately becomes a throw out it doesn't matter for you.

That is a FACT. There were some throwouts but not as much as you think. It's not what I believe. It's what I KNOW. It is a FACT. Definitely didn't stand behind his seat and count lol. At the end of the day i could care less off this test was curved, lowered or whatever. We are on the list and that's all that matters and i really do believe this entire list is getting made.

He just sent me his score. He got 66 originally. Got 75.392. After curve or throwouts. Then his seniority kicked in for 82....

I work with a guy who studied his ASS off, didn't make it. He did elite and read key packets. He must have been low low low.

And I also had a friend who told me he got in the 60s and after I didn't see them on the list and pressed the issue they admitted that after they counted 31 red wrong answers they stopped counting and guestimated later. Once the LT and Cpt lists get established, plus the coming retirments, NCO expansion, and insane amount of supervisor body camera responsibities, the need for sgts will pick up as will the size and rate of classes.

I'll find you 4 more who said they got a 69 and failed. People get embarrased and say they failed by a few points. It happens every test. If I had a dollar for everytime someone claimed they got 69 or 68 when they failed. 61 was the passing Blast. I mean come on. Even if there wasn't a curve, which there was, and lets say that they got a 68 and failed while people are passing with a 60 or 61 then either they have the worst luck in the world or did what my friend did and count 31 wrong during the protest and felt so defeated that they didn't even bother to count the rest.

There weren't that many throwouts. I don't know if you guys remember a while back I told you there were 2 lists floating around. One around 1400 and one around 2600. The 1400 list was the actual list after throwouts. The 2600 was the list after the curve.

Exactly. 1400 would have been more than adequate. Especially going by normal list size standards. The 2600 list is a purposely manufactured anomaly.

I know they curved the test. Yet, Why would they curve the test getting an additional 1200 people on the list if they are not planning on hiring most of the 2600 people. If the list was 1400 before and they hire 450 Sgts a year the list is good for 3 years. There wouldnt be any point to curving the test and adding an extra 1200 names just to let the list die at 1700-1800 names in 4 years. This job has to be adding more Sgts then we currently have.

I believe the exam was curved due to the fact that the makeup exams were different. Possibly something to do with making sure all the pass rates were in line to avoid any type of lawsuit. Just my opinion.

How come the mc came out to uneven numbers I got a 73.805? I always thought the questions where all equal had to be worth one point each. Would throw outs cause some questions to be worth more than others?

The .805 comes from medals and seniority points. Thats why theres in between scores.

Over 60 people took a makeup exam. 16 on 02/27. 40 took it in late May and there were 2-3 other sessions given with a handful of cops each time. Still a small # though.

There was no curve. Whatever questions were protested were automatically marked correct.....free of lawsuit....and leaving a long list up to the 4 year expiration date from the date the list is published......Not a curve, but about 7-12 legitimate questions protested....thus, giving exam takers who failed in the 60s (if awarded enough on throw outs) to reach a passing grade of a 70....then once you reached the 70 passing grade....the seniority, fitness points, and or medals kicked in.....so its very possible for someone to get a 62....fail initially....pick up 8 points on throwouts, end with a 70, and because of seniority points, fitness, and medals, can land a mid 70s, even 80.....so again! There was no curve, just throw outs, and who did it benefit the most.....senior cops....who did it effect....test takers on the bottom of the list prior to throwouts.....

Thats a very good point. And makes more sense than the job made the list 2600 to hire all 2600 people.
The .805 comes from medals and seniority points. Thats why theres in between scores.
I read-only 16 people took it. Not sure how that plays a part. If there were maybe a 100, ok. But 16. Not sure about that theory at all.
I mean before medals it was 73.805 I got 2.901 for the medals and seniority to get a average score over a 76.

You cant write up 511s anymore. They changed the entire medal procedure
Over 60 people took a makeup exam. 16 on 02/27. 40 took it in late May and there were 2-3 other sessions given with a handful of cops each time. Still a small # though.

This is the one post that makes a lot of sense. I actually know two people who work in DCMB. They might have some insight on this. I'll try to reach out tomorrow and report back if they say anything worth while.
