What is the Key and Elite doing to help their students?

While I do not place entire blame on them for this debacle, I would appreciate some more help and advice other than Yano's "wait and see" attitude.. These guys definitely have their mole sergeants take the exams and know the questions.. Why aren't they helping us? Next course Elite should make all their 5's become 1's and 1's become 5's..

In all seriousness, Mike put his heart and soul into his course and there's no way anyone could've prepared us for this disaster. I put every effort into his course and I feel I definitely wouldn't have passed without his direction.

we are not arguing the fact that he didnt put his heart and soul into preparing us for this debacle,, i agree with you,,i went to all of his classes and i have to admit he is a great instructor,,however,, ever since the exam he has been "MIA" and i feel he has left his students out to die alone ! .. in my opinion he is not doing a good job on keeping his students,, but then again,,who we got left..the Key?? i think they are worst than Elite,, unless Misfud has more little birds talking to him on his shoulders !!!

Key was on point for 2011 Sgt exam. Unfortunately I feel they fell off a little this year. Although I believe their packets remain the best in the business, they did not provide a pg and their online stuff was crap.
Elite seemed well organized, Espically the elite guide and website. I just don't like those fill in the blanks.
Ksa like I said was decent. Although they did not provide updates for the interim orders.
Even the academy material seemed out of pace and definetly out of date this time around.
None of the above would have made a difference anyway since this test was such an abomination.

I agree. All of the material helped me a bit, the Rising Star stuff was really good with LBB, but none of it was good enough to tackle this stuff on it's own, or even combined with other courses.
I didn't mind the Key giving the digital PG, once I got the hang of navigating it on my tablet it was much easier than having the paper guide. It wasn't a problem until our protest session since DCAS won't allow any technology in the room because God forbid someone snap a photo of their super secret material. I borrowed an Elite Guide from a coworker who had given up and wasn't going to the protest.
That stupid KSA test was probably the most similar to our actual test, only because it was so ridiculously cheesy.

I agree for the most part. I used the Key in 2011 and they were on point, I raved about the packets and instructors. Then for this exam they totally fell off. The entire "Cross out the next paragraph" which was all Captain duties pissed me off. Basically they utilized the same exact packets they did for the recent Captain exam and didnt want to edit / reprint. And the digital PG was basically annoying. Maybe I'm "old school" but I wanted a CD for my car and bought a PG from them which wasn't included.
The Elite fill-in's are distracting. It's straight PG too, the Key's charts and breakdowns are still on point and for me trump Elite. Misfud held the Key together, he's legit as a teacher.
I guess the same goes for both classes that what we were all prepared for simply wasn't on the test. I mean I attended Yano's cram classes, he was a great instructor and I def learned some stuff but his 5 star procedures weren't 5 star. But the same went for the Key the "Don't worry about this" stuff ended up being on the exam!
Elite was $100 more than the Key- But that was a non-factor. The Key made me basically buy a PG ($55) and buy their app which only had questions ($30). So that basically made the price the same. Elite's website was impressive for sure.

no the 5 stars are 5 stars....5 stars doesnt equal for sure on test! It means its important/been asked before/knowledge necessary when out on patrol etc etc. The 5 stars should have and should remain 5 stars! One stars should have been studied...i memorized a few here and there and were familar with the rest. Seemed to help me out big time on this test. You cant straight out memorize everything..its impossible! Yano IMHO did his job....but this time around you had to be very disciplined to do alot of the work on ur own. You think buying 3 companies worth of material equals a passing grade???? HA! those who do that usually lack self discipline and are dependant on the classes to structure them. Now i will admit, i needed yano to structure my study habits....but i went beyond his recommendations. When he said study for 5 hours a week,...i was on 5 hours a day. That to me is was drove my grade and gave me the edge on this test.

I did exactly what I did this time for the 2011 Sgt exam, study-wise, and I crushed that '11 test (As did another 1600+ people). I walked away w/ a 63 on this one. There was definitely material I didn't focus on that I should have. But in reality say we had another month I would have studied the exact same way. I put the time in but choked.
In 2011 I lived and died by the Key. This time I truly didn't feel they had their sh*t together which drove me to attend some Yano classes. I never would have if I felt the Key was on point this time.

I think you should argue that Choice B is incorrect because the blah blah blah. Would u happen to have any other questions in PDF like this one?" Granted I didnt ask him to write out the protest for me but I figured since he has protested before he could give me a better direction. It wasnt the case. Maybe it was because my protest was flawless so there was nothing to add (Highly doubt it lol). It seems he probably just wants the questions for his next class. I will still attend Yanos course for the Captains test. I think he is overall the strongest in his field.
