I'm gonna bet there's a class in March but the big hope is that the class is a substantial size. Realistically this is the last guaranteed month of eligible promotions for the 2015 Lieutenants exam. If you don't make this class hoping for up front promotions in April is the last chance at a shot at that test.
Shotsfired said

What happen to those big classes we use to see? Now if we get a class of 50 it would be considered a big class.

The same number of promotions at the end of the year at a more steady rate.

What's a denial letter ?????
Pacinoflow said
Jan 29, 2015
It states I won't be receiving an admission card, I will not be permitted into the test site and that I won't be getting a refund. It says their records show I'm not empoyed in an eligible title, or that by the date of the test I will not have served permanently in an eligible title for the minimum period required.

That's weird bc if there is a class next month you are in and you will be able to take the lt test. Dcas has nothing to do with when Sgt classes go in so I don't see how they can deny you already. I'm sure someone like semp will have an explanation. I would contact dcas.

Shotsfired said

They wouldn't know that info. There are people in personnel that don't know that info right now so def dcas wouldn't know. Unless I'm somehow wrong. I'm sure someone has more concrete info.

You may enter BMOC in March, but it could be the end of March, hence you won't get promoted until a date after April 18th. Hopefully that's not the case.

You're technically not a sergeant so my guess is the computer spits that letter out automatically. I'm almost positive you can sign up for the test after the filing date if you attain the rank after the cut off for which you can sign up. I would call them and ask them quite simply what happens if you attain the rank between now and April 18. If you're promoted before then you should have no problems taking the test...don't worry.

I hear you 63Asap... My concern is having to file twice and paying twice...

Honestly, while it would suck to pay again, you'd still get to take it. Being one of the last eligibles, count your blessings for that!

If you are in BMOC currently just file an appeal. They will let you take the exam. If not. Wen you get promoted call them and you will be good for the exam.

I just spoke to the testing and research unit. They said dcas is assuring them that if you are promoted before April 15th, dcas will link your payment through your social security number. You will be eligible to take the exam, and you will NOT have to pay twice. However if there is no March Bmoc, yet they decide to put people in for april, then it is up to the Job to promote cops to Sgt up front.

You can register up to the day before the test for any "valid" reason. 1 of those reasons being when the sign up was offered you were not eligible. That is an actual listed reason by DCAS. Don't worry. It's not going to be an issue. It takes 1 second in person to do.

It's not really news. I'm just gonna tell u what Lt from bmoc told us. He said he doesn't know about next month class yet. But if there's one then he will know 2 weeks in advance. Also he spoke about cutting current list. He said they have been holding off 2013 list for almost year and a half now. He does not have any info on wether they will cut 2011 or exhaust it. All that he said was "They cannot have 2 active lists at the same time." So they will either rush the remainder of 2011 list or cut it off.
