You got issues. I hope you didnt pass    People got, I got in between score before longevity and medals kicked in. And I am In top 200. So your argument is very invalid. Just dont make any more comments please.

And regarding any comments....thank you for your permission....never really asked for it.....and for the rest of the people that read this thread for valid info......Im not a troll....Ive been on here for years....with legit info....all it takes is looking at the history....and i said this, because this is what i was told from a reliable person on the job. Its not to be a kill joy but just info.

The only way to prove there was a curve is to know how many throwouts there were and to find people who failed by more than the total throwouts.

Example. There was 8 throwouts and someone failed by 10.

Otherwise there was no curve.

So why would the MC scores all have different decimals added? There were no decimals on any prior tests.

Once again If there wasnt any curve on this exam, there wouldnt be any in between grades before longevity, medals or jst/mile. In between means 1.1456. Instead it would be just flat 1 or 2 before longevity and other ad ons. However my grade before add ons aka longevity and medals was xx.389. Which means there was a curve to bring down the passsing in addition to throwouts /double answers.

Finally, someone that knows what they're talking about. I've been trying to explain to my fellow officers this point for weeks. But was completely met with backlash and ignorance (not by all. But by must) your a 100% right... to add to your point, for all intents and purposes, let's say it was curved. The next question is,..WHY?????... some of you guys really need to understand how a curved exam works. And also so to the grand wizard that seems to get praised so highly on this forum (and you know who you are) [not you, ajvic] that made the "great"suggestions to use Google to help find info?!.. well just for laughs.. I did.. and I'm still right.. so like i been saying this was not a curved exam.

Ok ok, okkkkkkkkk. Enough of the curve or whatever. Let's figure out A) will the city/nypd inflate their allowable Sgt capacity, B) are guys really retiring, C) upcoming bigger class for April academy and D) LT/Capt list pull.

Until then nothing else truly matters.

This is turning into a comedy act. It's amazing to me how some of you come on here and state your opinions as facts. Your sources are people who make up gossip because if you had any real sources you would in fact know that this test was curved. But whatever you can believe what you want to believe. When someone puts in a foil request and you see the number of throwouts is nowhere near what you are saying it is. I WILL BE BACK TO SAY I TOLD YOU SO... AGAIN.

You are right. Theres 4700 sgts on the job. The job wants to replace about 2700 of them for body cameras and ncos. This list makes up 57% of the total sgts on the job.

Yep, people are insane to think that 57% of the Sgts on this job will retire/get promoted in 4 years. Not going to happen

When feb and march go by with no bmoc classes then reality will set in for many people. When only 400 or so people we get made by the end of the year then reality will set in..Until then people can dare to dream.

Ok so i got a chance to speak with my people from DCMB.  I want to be very clear that what I'm about to type is coming straight from them,  not me.

I was told that this week the city is announcing a preliminary budget.  Within in that budget you will see more money for the NYPD then in previous years.  Now i want to be clear.  At no time did they ever say that this extra money would be earmarked for Sgts or Lts or any personnel for that matter.  They don't know what its for and if they do they are not saying why.  I asked could we assume that it would be to further the NCO program,  and the response was, "We can assume anything we want but no one will know until the budget breakdown is announced by the mayor" i also asked do they think the extra money could be used to up the supervisory personnel and the response was "Its possible but no one knows"

What they did disclose was that the PC agreed to stay on an extra 4 years with the promise that he would be able to complete the implementation of the NCO program.

I want to give full disclosure before you guys start attacking me lol.  This is not the gospel.  I didn't walk away from that conversation feeling i had any new knowledge.  The ASSUMPTION is that what a few others said about adding new supervision for NCO might be true.  Those who remember impact and IRT will remember that they were attached to precincts but they were essentially seperate details.  They had additional Sgts and Lts that were solely responsible for impact and they had Cpts who were the COs of the impact/IRT units.  Most of those Cpts went on to be CO of actual commands.  If the NCO program is going to run similar to that then there will be a need for more supervision. The only way to get more vacancies without worrying about who's going to retire or get promoted is to increase the budget for personnel.  Hopefully thats whats going to happen with the budget.  We shall see.

So does anybody know the real reasoning behind the decimal points and why we didn't receive whole scores?

Because the scores are never in whole numbers. Look at the longevity points or the amount awarded for medals...

He's talking about the MC score, not the PS score, or final.

At this point who cares. It's in your favor.

It could possibly be bc of throwouts.

ELI5 - say there are no throwouts then your score is X out of 100 which is easy to figure out, 1 point a question. But now say they throw out two questions, you know only have 98 questions so your score is X out of 98. Which is 1.02 points a question

I'll say it again.  The passing grade for this exam was a 61 based on the curve that was implemented.  Whether you believe me or not is up to you but the people on this board who know who I am would know my info is pretty accurate for reasons I will not post on a public forum.

Damn thats probably the worst grade one can get, if i failed i would rather fail tremendously bad with a 50 instead of a 69. Knowing you where on the brink is the worst feeling !

Nobody cares what it is. Whatever score on that list is final and official. Curved or not, throw outs or not, double answers or not. Nothing will change the score anymore. If anything, it benefits everybody. It doesn't discriminate based on race, religion or ethnicity. There should be no complain.

Because once they throw a question each correct answer is worth less than 1 point. If they threw one question out each correct answer would be worth .99 of a point and as they throw out more questions the value of each question becomes less and less.

Well you got the math question wrong. For every question they throw out each right question is worth more not less

Every question is worth 1 point. Regardless of throwouts they all count as 1 whole number. There is no fraction when u have multiple throwouts. The noticed we received, if u look at the MC portion not the longevity/medals/performance part. You will see your MC is fraction which means the test was curved. Throwouts or double answers dont give u fractions they give you whole numbers geez. U can see the quality of Sgts that is coming through from this test.
