List size

This exam reminds me of the 09 Sgt exam.   After the exam people were going nuts about how straight forward it was. The list barely broke 700 after 3 throwouts.

I'm predicting 800 on this list with 1 double answer.  If the list is bigger,  it will be cut at 1000.

Cut at 1000?

Anything past 800 is on shaky ground

Ill guess 700 to 900. One thing people fail to realize are that the days of 9 throw outs are over since the school instructors cannot take the test and protest anymore.

Based on the 2006 exam. 1200 names were on it and you needed a 79 to get promoted. Even some with a 78 got cut.

That's because the market collapsed and people lost alot of money.   They simply waited it out.  As soon as it leveled there was an exodus...hence the 2011 exam.

Does anyone have solid numbers on how many signed up for this test? I thought they rushed the promotions for the 2013 SGT exam because not alot of people signed up for this test.

Test was not easy at all. If you studied hard you got the technical questions right and the 20 or so super straight forward. There was a great deal of trickery on the exam. If you agree with me you probably passed because you noticed and beat the question. I spoke to several people who thought they got in the 80's and after reviewing all the questions with the guide they realized they MAY have passed in the low 70's. Also there are 2 rumors for this test.

2400 signed up for the exam...
900 signed up for the exam and they rushed the sgt list to promote everyone so more people can sit for the test.
I've heard both from credible people

I don't know which is true BUT I do know that the 2006 list was cut because of the market collapse in 2007. NOBODY was retiring from those days because deffered comp looked like **** and the private sector stopped hiring. It cost around 300 people a promotion. The rate of promotion was ridiculously slow which caused the list to expire. Time will tell don't anyone spaz out yet. By the 5 week mark confirmed reports will come down of how many passed and how many people sat for the exam.

I will also confirm however that this was a very FAIR exam with absolutely relevant questions that we should all know as supervisors.

On average 10% of test takers pass the promotional exams. I'll be generous and give this one a 25% passing rate. Total amount of passers 650 if 2600 did in fact take the test.

Also with an average of 150-200 Lt a year. If the list is under 700 then no one would die on the list besides passovers.

I'm out. Looked at one of the recap sheets. I'm in the mid 60s. Made a lot of silly mistakes.

I walked out thinking I smashed it, and now several days later I'm a zombie thinking I failed. Its so cruel that in 2017 you dont know IMMEDIATELY if you passed. I have to hope that some 99 year old procture turned over my scan tron correctly to her supervisors who dont speak english. FML

well if you get lower than a 69 you can always just tell everyone you got a 69 like everyone else does. No one will ever know.... "you know man I had it but changed one questions and got a 69"

The average promotions for Lieutenant is around 15 a month.

That's 180 a year, or 720 over four years.

If I remember correctly that Lieutenant list that was cut was cut right around the 750 or so (maybe 780?).

That Lt list was also established a full year before hiring anyone. It also had the whole market collapsing thing going on.

I also remember the sgt list at the time had like 8 months of a freeze with no promotions too.

Different circumstances.

When I computed the average I went back to 2000. Even with the crash and people not retiring, they retired after the market got better which would make everything even out. Hence, an average.

Everyone on this list will be promoted.  There will be no cut offs unless we experience another economic crisis as we did in 2008 when there were promotion freezes and smaller promotion groups of about a dozen every few months thus lagging the list.  The list is good for 4 years at the date that it is released.  about 40-50 exam passers experienced being cut.
