Rising Star for the 2017 Captain exam! $549 for the full course!

Future captains:

Rising Star will be offering a dedicated study-at-home course for the 2017 Captain Exam WITH the option to attend the Lieutenant exam course. Let's call this what it is: this is not a live Captain's course; this is a live Lieutenant's course that study-at-home Captain students can attend at no additional cost.

As much as we would like to do a live class for the Captain's Exam, Tony and I both feel that you can only do one live class well; if we were to run a live captain and lieutenant course simultaneously we will not be able to give both groups 100%. Instead, we are offering the BEST live Lieutenant Class out there and the BEST study-at-home package for the Captain exam.

As a study-at-home Captain student you will get:

-Our new Essential Guide, printed and digital (this is the best annotated Patrol Guide you can get right now, edited to include just captain's duties and below along with notes, acronyms, study tips, and synopsis/takeaways for the more complicated procedures)

-Our exam-like questions. Over 1600 of them

-Admin Guide Digest, broken down over 20 weeks, with questions

-Legal Bureau Digest (a synopsis of all the legal bureau bulletins)

-In-basket lesson

-Additional study aides posted on Watchdox

-Judgement scenarios/Compstat math/Grammar, etc

-full attendance at our Lieutenant course and crams (including access to videotaped classes)

You get all this for $549 and everything will be shipped to your home at no additional cost! The weekly questions will be mailed starting in April (you'll get one packet a week for 20 weeks) with the Essential Guide going out the end of January (electronic access will be within 24 hours of ordering).

Ordering will be available soon at www.risingstarpromotion.com

We haven't yet, but anything we add in the future will not be extra. For this Sergeant exam we added Watchdox and a live cram mid-class at no extra charge. At any rate all of our students will get all the material and guidance they need to ace this test! We will also be available class to answer any of your questions.

What do you mean by additional study aides? Will this be packets like previous classes?

No more notes. We replaced that with our Essential Guide, which takes the place of the lessons. You get this in one shot. Every week we will send out updates to the guide. The weekly lessons will also come with various attachments each week, such as legal digest plus questions, AG highlights plus questions, shortcut tips (like summaries of Captains duties, etc)

We understand. That's why we're not over promising. We're not going to stick you in a lieutenants class and call it a captains course. To give you 100% we can only do study at home. We're trying to keep the cost down as well. With printing, mailing (We're the only school that ships for no extra cost) and additional cost with allowing captains students to attend the lieutenant course--along with one on one or small group coaching after the lieutenant classes--you  have our guarantee that we will do our best to get you promoted at the lowest cost possible. We're $300 cheaper than any of the schools that will mail material out. We also guarantee that we will have the best material out there!

It's simple business. Thousands of people will sign up for Lt classes, while only a cpl hundred of us will bother with the Captains exam. They are not gonna take time away from a cash cow, no matter how loyal we have been. At this point we just have to figure out what the best structure is for us.

As silly as it sounds, I really hope they push the next captain's exam to the middle of 2018. It will benefit students in that they are not taking a glorified lieutenant's course. The city will also benefit in that those who took a real captains course will get promoted to captain, not those who took a glorified lieutenant's course.

I am eligible to sit in on this exam, but giving the captain exam in the middle of 2018 will also do justice to all those who busted their butts in the 2015 Lieutenant's exam. I am sure we all agree that the 2015 lieutenant exam was more than brutal, so I feel all who passed deserves a fair shot of the next captain's exam.

That plus I can use the time to fully recover from that last beating we took in the 2015 LT Exam. Sorry, I am still not over it. When I saw the announcement of a 2017 Captain Exam I felt more stressed out then I was filled with joy. Was I the only one???!

I think it will seal the deal if you add in weeks of Captain only live classes once the LTs class are over.  Please add this within the next month so I can make up my mind as to which school to take.

I think rising star is the only way to go. I love elite but no weekly packets, questions, crossword puzzles (to break up the studying) not sure if it is worth the 800 price tag just for a LT course.
I understand this is a business for them and they would sacrifice the few ( potential capts) for the many ( potential lieutenants).
Rising star seems to be rolling out their capts exam home prep course and they have my money. As soon as that link goes up I will pay.

You had me at home study for $549. Post the link so I can start.

Anything that you can add on would be appreciated risingstar. Either way I'm going with you guys and I like the fact that you guys come closest to a dedicated course starting before the other classes.

You have to want it.  If you are eligible, like you say, the announcement of this exam would excite you.  A chance to move up the ranks faster than you expected.  The fact that it stresses you out just shows how good the LT rank is, lol

Here is a more detailed listing of what you will be getting:

1. Each week, you will get a dedicated course packets. It will be geared towards captain. Here is what the lieutenant packet looks like:

www.risingstarpromotion.com/samplelesson.html (it's under Lt lesson Week 1 and Week 2) You will get this for YOU; you won't be getting this lieutenant packet

2. The Patrol Guide (Essential Guide with tabs and binder) portion of the packet will be shipped to you the end of January/beginning of February (the notes will be with the weekly lessons). Yeah, it's early, but you will receive updates (printed ones) within weeks of an Interim Order coming out (starting with week 1) NOT every few months!

3. The Essential Guide will be available digitally within 24 hours of purchase

4. You'll get our questions--lots of them

5. Admin Guide breakdown WITH questions

6. All the legal bureau bulletins WITH questions

7. In-basket

8. Compstat math and grammar

9. judgement scenarios

10. unlimited email support

11. and much, much more!

Tony and I guarantee that our dedicated captain course will be better than any live class you sign up for. How much can you really learn in class for 2.5 hours? For a captain exam--with all the additional duties you need to learn?

We couldn't give you our 100% with a live captain class but you have our promise that we will give you 100% with our home study course.

$549 includes mailing you the lessons every week!

EZE,

I am a little lost..... so the 2 LT sample lessons you have uploaded in your site, is that the essential guide??

or we get 2 separate study materials??   The course packet  and  the essential guide (which is like the patrol guide I am assuming?)

You will get a weekly course packet as well. What's posted online is the Essential Guide edited to contain only lieutenant duties and below. Before that (the first few pages) are notes for that particular section. The first few pages of what was posted summarizes important concepts in that section and/or a breakdown of all lieutenant duties for that section. For the captain course you will get the Essential Guide in the beginning. Then, every week, you will get a packet that will include our questions, a summary of all the captain duties in that section, Admin Guide summary and questions, Legal Bureau synopsis and questions, etc... We will not reprint the Essential Guide again since you'll already have that printed and online. The Essential Guide contains duties for captains and below (we give it to all ranks for reference). We then further edited it for lieutenants and removed the captains duties--something that doesn't have to be done for captain students so you will just get the notes/breakdown of the captains procedure for that particular section.

Eze, will the digital Essential Guide be updated immediately when there is a change in the PG, in order for us to print out that section until the update arrives in the mail?

What size is the printed essential guide? Normal patrol guide size or a smaller version?

Class is excellent, the exam techniques and how to attack questions is done very differently from the other schools. I strongly suggest anyone serious about studying to make a small investment in risingstar. Their questions are top of the line and bring out many tricks and areas you should focus on.

The packets are going out the last week of March/early April. We're trying to time it around 7 months before exam day.

The Essential Guide is going out tomorrow and Monday, so you will have that until then. We also have the admin guide available online.

Eze, regarding the Interim Orders - When you guys send out an update to our email, I only have the option to print out the entire section of the guide.  Am I doing something wrong?  For instance, Interim order #9 only gives me the option to print out the entire section of PG 205

You should be able to print out just what you need. To print out the changes go to  miscellaneous folder and print directly from there
