Questions for current Captains

How soon do you get the Cat 1 car? What's  the worse Boro to work in as a new Capt? How is transit/housing as an XO? If anyone knows the answer feel free to share. Does anyone actually have Fri/Sat off? Seems like most have Sun/Mon

Cat 1 car - Every command has a designated "XO/ICO" car - that is your car. You have to do a 49 to PCO requesting approval but you don't have to wait for approval before taking it home.

I am familiar with XO life in PBBS, PBMS and Transit. Generally half of the XOs in the boro/bureau have Fri/Sat RDO and the other half have Sun/Mon. The schedule in PBMS is the roughest mostly due to the details. You'll be working many of your RDOs but at least you'll be putting time on the books. PM me if you want more specific information on the schedule. I can email you a sample executive schedule from each of those boroughs.

I hear PBBN is also rough with wanting late night weekend coverage but I can't speak on that.

Housing captains get the fewest duties (just 1 patrol duty a month). Transit has its own duty captain so XOs get like 10 of those a month, plus 1 patrol duty.

Ill add to Unborn post but he covered mostly everything.

Cat 1- Immediately. First thing you do is do the 49 and mail it out and begin using it. Same day if you want.

Life in my boro is alright. We are short a few XO's so I get my usual duties and a few extra here and there, however, being that there are a bunch of newer captains I dont get bothered much. Our boro CO is absolute ACES, so the boro molds to his personality and his leadership, both which are truly a blessing.

PBBN- Steady Sun/Mon. We have our duties charted for the entire year so you know ahead of time when your working and covering RDO's to plan accordingly.

There was an XO who did have Fri/Sat off but the other XO had Sun/Mon off when a certain command had 2 XO's.

I would say being a housing XO probably the easiest of the 3 bureaus since least duties, no traffic stat and generally not crazy amounts of crime. Toughest part is managing limited resources in multiple commands for coverage.

If every borough is like mine, all captains in the same borough pick together, including COs in rank of captain and XOs. If there are more than 8 captains, then double picks come into play (which obviously works out better). I was dead last in picks for 2016 but even then I didn't do too bad. Got an A pick and summer week.

Unless you want to piss people off, don't take vacation for major details in your precinct. For example, the XO of the 17th shouldn't take UNGA week off, the XO of the 77 shouldn't take Labor Day, etc.

Same as mine, we got triple picks because we had 10+ captains picking. I believe I was number 9 and by the time it got to me there was only 2 weeks completely booked. This year should be no different. Honestly it doesn't even matter what week you want because of stats/meetings they can screw up one of your vacations you can always just take the next week. As long as your CO is an alright guy, he can allow you to take any week. My CO just gave me the OK to move my last vacation pick from 3rd week of December to the week of Christmas since he doesn't have that week. Boro isn't going to care anyway.
