January class please.

Can they break the trend of no dec/Jan back to back?  Here's to a happy new year!

I say January class but that's just me being optimistic. Just bc there hasn't been a dec and jan class back to back in a while doesn't mean there won't be a class. I love how certain people say "no jan class" right off the bat. You never know..

Ask yourself this question ... The 13 test was announced dec of 2012 ... Given 10/13 ... Why would they want the bottom of the barrel from they easiest test??? When they could have the cream from one of the more difficult tests in recent time .. There is no law mandating it must be active only it CAN be active ... For four years ... NOBODY KNOWS ANTTHING... Let's wait and see

Simply because this department unlike some others have never cared about "cream of top" and hires and promotes a lot of different people. Sometimes wrong people and even perps. Would it be a small police force it would be a different story. The largest force in the nation simply can't afford to pick and choose only the top ones. They need manpower! That's why the passing score is 70 and not 90.

I know 2 people who took the '11 and '13 test pal and they said the difficulty level was the same so check yourself. It's not like you navigated thru Quantum Physics to earn a spot on a civil service promotional list. **** OUTTA here.

Just because someone scores a 90 on a promotional exam (especially Sgt) doesn't mean they are the cream of the crop. I would rather have a boss that scored a 75 and knows how to lead, protect their people, and create a solid working environment, then have the guy with a 90 that couldn't find a collar in a shirt factory as a cop. Not to take away from people that hide in details until they get promoted, but most of us aren't so lucky. Therefore, knowing how to pass a promotional exam with a top 5% score, is very impressive and commendable. However it means nothing to show to kind of caliber supervisor you will be (especially precinct level). If this job followed that patrol guide to a T, we would all be f**ked. I have almost 10 years on the job and I have seen my fair share of great bosses, and equally horrific ones.

Oh Christ not the "cream of the crop" argument. Inthewind is obviously bored. It was funny when the list just got started but we are almost 1400 names in. You can wave bye bye to the theory 600 names ago lol.

Inthewind is an agitator and **** stirrer. He's been caught red handed on other threads suggesting that he and others start a rumor. He has no credibility whatsoever and is a complete piece of ****. He just comes on here to try and get a rise out of people by saying the list will die. He previously said 1250 was the last list number to go in, remember that? He's bored with no life and this is his only form of entertainment, kind of sad really.

Brat will post some news about a January class around the end of the second beginning of the third week of December. Until then don't even bother waiting for her because nobody knows...

Inthewind failed both the 2011 and 2013 exam and is a agitator so don't listen to him :P (jealous)

I know numerous people who failed the 11 and passed the 13. How is that the easiest test?

First off, I dont buy this cream of the crop BS. I am a firm believer that if you pass the test, you should get made. But IMO, in terms of difficulty the 2013 test was alot more difficult than the 2011 test (Not just the time restraint with the added questions). Before the 2013 test, I never even opened the patrol guide for a test, just wanted the Saturday off. After scoring a 67 on the 2011 test without studying, I convinced myself that I need to study for the next one. I studied pretty hard for the 13 test and scored in the low 80s.

Whatever... Who cares. Everyone thinks the test they took was the hardest one ever. Stop trying to convince everyone your 75 is better than his 75. All that matters is what you scored and if you passed.

This stuff is sooo annoying. I can't wait for a 2016 sgt exam and for everyone to say those 2013 guys had an easy test... Blah blah blah...moving on!

Funny, I did the same thing.  69 on '11 without opening a book.  Studied hard for '13, mid 80s.  What's a "hard" or "easy" test. A question on a special category missing seems a lot easier to the guy who read the PG procedure for it 200 times, than the guy who just wanted the guaranteed 28 approval.

Some days I can't wait to get promoted, other days I think I'm nuts to give up capping out on OT every month.

It's the way of the world.  What's the rush to get a $20 a check raise for 1000% increase in responsibility?  Everyone's time will come that passed.  I think people's fears several months ago of the 2011 list getting cut was somewhat warranted.  At this point its pretty much 99.999% sure all 1600+ will get made.  For your guys' sake I hope as money as possible before April 18th!

Well said I'm in no rush going to be a big pay cut but better for the families future. More time with the family for same amount of money
