Proposed buy out for the PBA

is anyone reading on "The Rant" about this buyout being proposed to the PBA?  I dont think this is a good idea.

Yes, it's bad. If it passes, the 15 and up crowd would fly out the door. Why stay for 5 more years for no raises when you can cash out at 20/40 right away?  Mayor's way of forcing the old timers out the door.

I think it's bad all around. Mass exodus and 3 to years of money that should've went to your pension that would've earned interest.

Not to mention such a move would eventually bankrupt the pension fund, by paying advanced money out in early retirements. Its a scheme to bust the pension fund.

If it's on the rant, it must be true.

Yikes.

There isn't an active cop on the rant. That whole site is littered with racist old men that haven't put a gun-belt on in decades. If....if this is true...I think it's awesome. Do 21 years and get a 25 year pension? That extra 5 years adds a ton to your pension...so much that unless you're moving out of state or you have a great job lined up post-retirement, it's almost foolish not to do 25. Nevertheless...doesn't the state control the pension system? How would the city even be allowed to manipulate a state run pension system in such bizarre way?

The current PBA are a bunch of dumbasses to even think such a proposal should occur... guess people haven't read much about Detroit and their pension issues... Don't read into the rant, they are  just exactly what stiggity said, old angry jaded gun belt less old men...

What would happen to cops who vested 4 years ago or earlier who didn't get variable? ? Now this new contract which they retired out of contract would have years added to get them to 20 years..hence they should get variable now when before they knew the lose it by vesting. .now they have 20 years of service. .am I missing something with this...Also come out academy and have 4 years otj and only need 3 to take Sgt exam.so u could he Sgt with 1 year otj...This is turning out to be a **** sandwich that were gonna have to bite into
