RE: How many will make this list?

This is why most are happier with staying a police officer.... Nothing wrong with that...look how much stress some of us are having right now .... Look what they did with sgts exam too... Some cops in my command studied 10 months for nothing.... Sigh

Im very thankfuk...I have it made if i become a captain or not...that doesn't change the $1000.00s spent on classes, the time investment and the fact we're the only job in the world who actively tries to trick and fool dedicated people as the main goal of an exam. You put half a year of serious studying into any other exam you'd be golden. period.

Being a cop is just as stressful for different reasons. The biggest being that you earn much less money for a challenging job.

This dept is a$$ backwards yes... No other dept requires its officers to carry a daily diary.... Or has police officers following police officers from job to job .... Or paying detectives to take pictures of crimes in progress to be addressed at a later date by another .... Or some who are so caught up in the #s game they punish hard working men and women for coming in one B short WHEN THEY ARE ANSWERING 20 jobs a night ...Should I go on.... Double sigh

THIS IS THE SON OF XAVIER:
Arimass is correct. The test was one big trick after another. Even those who passed really should admit this. What bothers the on of Xavier the most are those who will be captain by taking alternate exams. And somewhere out there will be a person who did it on the lt and capt test.

Same here. Although I don't think any if these questions are fightable. As ****ed up as that test was, it was really either you know it or you don't. It was not the abortion of an exam that the 2011 Lt's exam was. I walked out of that exam knowing 20 questions were getting manipulated. Without giving the question away, I'll be fighting the penal law. I don't think any other questions are fight able.

If anyone needs help remembering what question number belonged to what question, PM me. I have a decent list compiled but don't want to post it in public for obvious reasons.

Please don't pm any question to anyone you personally know because a stranger could be one who is taking test this Sunday or in near future. The best way will be to set up an in person group discussion. Few questions are disputable for sure .

I have to say, everyone on this board has been very responsible about not posting specific questions. Very different from my Sgt and Lt test where every question was on this board by the next day.

I haven't checked my answers against the key on here but wish everyone good luck. See you at the protest.

The cops go tomorrow for their protest....they had to wait 6 long weeks. If that holds true for us, we're not finding out our grades until Saturday, January 4th.

Sorry people. But I'm very happy this test was this hard. I'm tired of losers moving up the ranks by just getting by on these tests. Those who did well on sgt and Lt tests I hope u passed. But u losers who barely passed the sgt test and Lt test have no business even thinking of being a Captain.

I think tha you my friend are "The Loser" anyone who achieves a score of 70 deserves to pass and be promoted...the 2006 Lt test had many poeple who does on that list for no other reason than people were not retiring and the list moves horrifically slow..Anyone who passes the exam deserves anything they get. Maybe you should lobby for the minimum passing score to be an 85...I dont know who you are nor do i ever want to meet you but the fact that you refer to us or anyone as "Losers", May Karma come and bite you in the ass..

The 2006 Lt test was a groundddd ball. Therefore anybody who died on the list didn't study nearly as hard as those at the top of the list. I know people who studied a month and made the bottom of that list. So using that as an example was a horrible mistake. As for the 2008 2009 2011 Sgts tests...Those were ground balls too. The only tests I give people respect for doing well on were the 2007 Sgt test and 2011 Lt test. That's a fact.

I studied my ass off for 2007 sgt and 2011 Lt and although i got raw scores of 73 on both before throwouts, i felt like i left both and failed. I feel the same about this one. I put more time into this one then the other 2 and feel like i did the worst on this one. Am i really supposed to feel like this??? lololol....i never got a straight-down-the-middle exam like 2008,09,11 sgt exam or 2006 Lt exam....maybe im better off but the feeling coming out of these exams suck. If i fail this one it isnt because of lack of effort....and the hell to anyone who feels that people dont deserve to get promoted by taking a test and passing...if it is in the cards for an easy exam and u did well enough to get promoted...then God bless you...if you busted your ass and took a really hard exam and didnt get promoted, it's not your fault but these are just elements we have to face on this job unfortunately...guess things happen for a reason but i cant believe im gng through this nonsense again for a 3rd crazy test

New to this post.  I guess ExamX DOA for now.  After talking to the cops, seems to me that you have to copy your entire patrol guide and admin guide.  They don't have a copier at the site.  Can anyone advise how the protest process works?  Can you mail in the protest after attending the session? Thanks.

All of the instructions on the protest session are on the rear of your take home answer key for attending/mailing in protests. Although I've never attended a protest session, I know you have to bring your Pg/AG or whatever sections you may need with you. Don't expect for them to make copies of the sections either. If you haven't mailed it by now, its to late to attend anyway

Just bring your mini PG and your admin guide. Who cares about the copies? Give them the original, unless you're going to need it again. I'm not. No way I'm studying again.

ExamX isn't really DOA, I just haven't had time to really pick it up much lately.  Eventually, it will get back into it when I have time.

Pass or fail, I am done. Being a Lt isn't so bad. I am not wasting my time on another exam. I will attend the protest and bring my Elite Guide, once I am done with the protest, my Eilte Guide is going in the trash and I will never spend another cent on any promotional exam and I will not dedicate a single minute towards preparing for another exam.

I've heard the number of passers for this 2013 exam is "less than the 2012 exam" (63). I wasn't told the actual number of 2013 passers. There were no changes on the 2012 exam. There were 387 test takers for this 2013 exam. If the # of passers is 62 for the 2013 exam, then the pass rate is about 16% (obviously lower as the number of passers decreases from 62). Such a pass rate is very close to the 2012 exam (15%) and lends some credibility to the information. Having had the "privilege" of sitting for both exams and judging them to be about equal in difficulty I believe it.

Wouldn't be surprised if the amount of people passing the 2013 exam is a lot lower than 62.

I wish I could say the same thing but my ego/pride will not allow me to throw in the towel.  I will definitely take the next exam but I don't know if I will be able to dedicate the time necessary to have a shot at passing like the time I spent for this test.  For me, that is what stings the most.  The money spent on classes & supplies can be recouped but the time wasted is gone forever.

You're the second person I heard this # from. Again, feel free to tell me I'm a cry baby or I have a sense of entitlement but if there is any truth to this, shows you something is seriously wrong.

Arimass, you have been the most realistic and level headed person on this message board.  You said it best when you stated "tests are meant to be passed, providing the person dedicates the time and effort."  For the 2011 Lieutenant's exam we had "abeyance," for this test we are learning the difference between "fair" and "unfair"...

This is a fu**ing joke! So much for a "fair" test. There is no way that only twenty something people studied tirelessly for this exam. I see another exam late 2014!!!

The list will increase after the protest session.  I don't think we will see nearly as many throw outs or double answers as the 2010 Captain exam or the 2011 Lieutenant, but there are people out there sitting on a 67/68/69 raw score and after a few questions are corrected, it will put them over a 70 and onto the list.

What the f*ck were they thinking about when they wrote this test or the captains who reviewed it prior to it being administered??

If this stands, is there more likely another test in 6 weeks or a bit of "tweaking" to this list that will make everyone with a 65+ a solid chance to get promoted??

If it is 22 or 25 they would have to some way throw out or give some double answers. I can't see them putting out a list like that.

There is no "they". The board that reviews the protests is not influenced by the job. Whether or not questions are tossed or made into doubles is completely up to the two Captains and one DCAS rep that make up the review board.

True.......never thought they would make a list of 64 either

I cannot see them keeping a list of only 22 people. There is hardly any captains left on the 2012 list, they would have to adjust it to increase it by another 40-50 names. I don't think this is what the department wanted, but it is what it is...all speculation until proven factual.

There will just be another test given sooner than later. After all PO exams are given 6 days a week. The job can give frequent exams if they need to.
