Change in Filing Dates

Obviously opinion only. If you guys were mid to upper 350's on the list, would you file for this exam? After this month's promotions, ill have another 140-150 names to go.  That leaves 5 more months (including November) of possible promotions.  140-150 names away seems like a lot but hear me out. There are currently 50 on terminal and a bunch of LTs are eligible to retire in august because of a large academy class from 1993. Leaning towards not filing but would like some opinions

Not sure if you all are aware...

As per Finest #2778671:

Filing date for Promotion to Captain Exam #4500 has been changed to Wednesday, July 3, 2013 through Tuesday, July 23, 2013.

I would file for it in case they do put larger classes. You never know.

I guess it would probably depend on how far they will get with this next class..

You're instilling a lot of confidence in me.  After this class I'll be about 60 names away and I was worried I wouldn't make it.  I think filing is a no brainer.  Worst that happens is you lose a hundred bucks.  Now do you waste 4 months studying.  Thats the real dilemma.

Thanks for the responses. Booking Fool, you would be a FOOL (I know, a little corny, lol) not to file. They will absolutely promote 60 more in 5 months. The terminal numbers alone dictate 60 more before November. That's not counting another class or two of captains and those who don't take terminal and retire in august.

I am in the same boat. I'm 150 names away after this class goes in, and I'm planning on registering. I'm not killing myself studying like I did for the L.t. Exam, but I'll give it a good try. It's nerve racking not knowing how to plan your life. It's almost a bitter sweet feeling.
