Got word from two reliable sources that Lt's will not be promoted this month. They said they're too many scheduled promotions. Got the news today.

Actually I got the same info. We were slotted for aprox. 38 Lt promotions but the class was cancelled to increase the amount of Sgt. going into BMOC. Uniformed Promotions couldn't Accommodate the increase of Sgt going into BMOC and a class of Lt.'s. There should be a Sept class....

The new academy was able to accommodate a sgts class of 100 this month but next month they can't "accommodate the increase of sgts going in"?

Yes they are able to accommodate one large class of one rank. They all are going through the same BMOC and have to be separated into different class rooms. But having a large class of Sgt's and a relatively large class of Lt's is when it gets difficult for instructors in the promotions unit. Anyway no need to further explain myself to a disgruntled idiot...

But for everyone else No Lt promotions this month and a large class of PO's and/or Det are going into BMOC..I don't know how many...Congrats to those going in and hopefully I'll see you guys on promotion day....

Umm, bull****ting troll. Ok.
Up until last week word was that LT's were getting promoted, I didn't hear everything that sqdboss heard. I actually heard they couldn't accommodate all the people on the date of promotions so they squashed LT's.

DETsgt- you sound so ****en jaded, no everyone has time or gives enough ****s to "troll" had valuable info- and I usually come to this site to see what's new, I got news and decided to share.

Whether or not a class goes in is still important to people like me.

Rumors I am hearing there holding off on LTs because of changes with special operations and conditions etc it will be freeing up LTs in the commands.

Doesn't make sense because then the same would be true for sgts.

Also special ops will still exist (crime, special foot posts, etc will fall under SOL)

Ok so next lt classs will either be 36 or higher if there are no captains or sgt class. Bmoc is slotted certain classrooms. There are over 40 vacancies currently for lts. Why possibly only 36? Each classroom in acadrmy only seats 36. Larger rooms in academy 108. However if there's a sgt class..then the larger room is taken and hence 36 lts next class. Hope for a sgt down month.

Not rumor...truth...however that's one of the reasons...along w captain why lts were cancelled. So 36 is rumored for oct...however if no sgts or captains then could see in 40s or even 50

Said this month was supposed to be 42....when I asked again still 42 spots available. I was wrong on why this class was cancelled. The new academy is huge but number of classrooms is same number as old building. Most go to recruits/ school safety. Bmoc has certain number but one room has no projector so it can't be used. When there's more than 36 cops going to sgt they must use big room that fits 108. Hence you must use small room for any other promotions which can't go over 36 bc thats all the small can hold

Why would they only promte 25 names when they are short 36 plus 10-17 Captains being made would bump that to 46-53. Can anyone reason that?

Without the current passovers there are 50 people eligible to be promoted... Wouldn't make more sense to fill as many Lieutenant vacancies as possible in one shot?

True, but what i meant to say is that maybe there is an issue with finishing the whole list if the passovers possibly aren't ready. Therefore maybe they are waiting for the board appearances to finish in order to kill the rest of the list. Just a hypothesis I had.

After they promote captains the vacancies will be in the 50s. They can literally kill the 2011 list in one large class.
