Around 6600 people took the last sgt exam and 781 passed. So if 9400 take it I will guess about 1112 will pass. That is my guess.

Are you guys kidding??..........there is NO WAY to predict how many would pass. Besides, what does it matter. Just shoot for the best you can (100%) and hopefully you will be on the top of the list.

In regard to the Sgt exam.......this is the introduction to promotional exams. Think of how many cops/detectives that haven't been out of the Academy too long and think that this exam is comparable to an Academy exam............those of you who have taken a Sgt exam in the past can attest to the fact it is NOTHING like the exams you get in the Academy. So many won't be properly prepared...........so you will lose huge amounts of test takers based on that.

I don't think many people are "paying" for the day off anymore ($88)

Also keep in mind, of the 6600 who FILED last time, only 4800 actually SHOWED UP to take the exam.

Don't worry so much of how long you think the list is, or how many people are taking it. Shoot for the stars, try the best you can and you should be fine.

I heard a rumor today that I thought was ridiculous, that they will be giving the sergeants test next year again?? I dont see how this can be true

with all those people taking the exam..........if 500 pass (which i think is unlikely, unless everyone is a moron) then they will give another one next year, but if 2000 pass then your looking at a couple of years at best

generally the number is between 7-12 percent of those that take it . thats a rough average its usually around 10 percent.

The way I see in my command and in commands that I have friends in, it seems alot of people signed up for the classes/exam but gave up months ago (some time around early June). So with that being said I cant see too many people on this list!

Answer key is posted on the 5th Monday after the exam so you will know your score in 5 weeks, but you won't know your list # till list comes out which isnt usually till current list is almost finished which should be quite soon so you shouldn't have to wait that long.
