The reason for all the heavy commands is because of impact. Chief of Patrol wants one Sgt for every 10 cops instead of the usual 1 Sgt for 20 or more cops. Furthermore, the Chief of Patrol does not want newly promoted Sgts in impact, so squad sgts are getting drafted into impact and losing their spots.

Because that is what we need, cops generating summonses instead of manning a sector where they are really needed. And they are pretty useless. My command got a couple irt cops, you would think these guys just came out of the academy after three years in irt

Actually douche, I was in crime before I got promoted. And I don't know about where you work but I really don't think the couple that is banging in a car on a dead street is really a good collar and it doesn't make them perps, or the mexican guy riding his bike on the sidewalk on the way home after working twelve hours who doesn't have id. Perhaps I struck a nerve because you're the kind of dick that brings these collars in, let's not forget the old guy selling roses on the street who doesn't have a permit. Those are some hardened criminals the conditions team brings. And sneu brings in shriveled up tb infested skells. Meanwhile there are plenty of young healthy perps out there left untouched. And I didn't mention crime because the guys in my command actually get gun collars

Wow, I'm not the only one with 21 cops in my squad? Isn't it supposed to be 8 POs per Sgt? Anybody know how short sergeants we are or the current PO to Sgt ratio?

well i do agree, patrol is short and should take priority. though sneu and conditions serve a purpose.  But in the long run, patrol will never be more important than those activity diven teams as long as compstat is alive.
